Re: “Everett & Jones Barbeque

Even if you order the "mild" combo, you really need a side order of their weapons grade "hot" sauce, just to sample BBQ the way God intended it to be.

Re: “Val's Burgers

I've only been eating at Val's since 1970, so I'm just one of their "new" customers. Their food is pretty decent, so I'll probably keep coming in for another half century or so, just to see if anything changes....

Re: “Souley Vegan

Come in as a party of 4 to 6, and order "one of everything", including their drinks. "Bang for the buck", it's unbeatable and it becomes addictive. Good!

Re: “Make Westing

Obviously. There's no place that's consistently better (or busier). The sandwiches are incredible, the cocktails always solid and everything is beyond reasonably priced. The outdoor patio is now a local hangout for a cross section of Oakland natives. Best bar by far.

Re: “Mama's Royal Cafe

Their specials say it all. Never mind it's cash only and it's a $2 ATM fee. IT'S WORTH IT.

Re: “Sweet Adeline Bakeshop

Delicious and in a perfect spot to keep it just busy enough and not too busy so I can always get my fix. Their almond morning bread is mouth watering.

Re: “Jayakarta

Jayakarta has the most authentic Indonesian food I've had since moving to the US 20 years ago. I no longer attempt to cook Indonesian food at home.
