Re: “Porky's Pizza Palace

You have the wrong website for Porky's Pizza Palace, the correct one is www.PorkysPizzaPalace.com
You can connect to our OnLine Ordering from our home page. See you at our Knee Deep Brewing in SF Beer Week Tasting tomorrow.

Re: “Borgo Italia

That Twitter account is incorrect. I don't think they have a Twitter account. They do have a Facebook page though.

Re: “Zachary's Chicago Pizza

Even when slightly off (even they are sometimes not fully up to par), their deep dish pizzas are still heaven on a plate (though probably also a heart attack on a plate; but what a grate way to die!) Nothing beats their deep dish pesto pizza.

Re: “Paisan

The pizza is cold. How can the pizza be cold when it is 15 steps from the oven to the table? Crust is chewy, not in a good way. Staff is completely oblivious. Failed to refill water, failed to get my colleague's beer, then failed to tell him that beer was out, then failed to get us the check... in short, fail.

Re: “Paisan

We thought the food was heavy handed and really average to poor pizza. Ingredients are very fresh in the Bay Area and there's no reason to douse things in balsamic vinegar and oregano (like their farro salad). The staff did not know the wine list and was not attentive to things like filling water glasses. There are plenty of other places that have far better pizza and sides (Boot and Shoe, Marzano, Locanda da Eva to name a few) at basically the same prices. EBExpress review sounded good so we thought we would try Paisan, but we would not go back.

Re: “Lanesplitter Pizza and Pub

The "& Pub" portion of the name is really important. Lanesplitter is a local chain, but this place does not have that franchisey Pyramid/Gordon Biersch/Rock Bottom feel at all. You might even find an old-time local at the bar. Thumbs up.

If you're just looking for drinkage, the beer line-up is way better than a pizza place needs it to be, which I appreciate. There are 12 taps (11 pretty regular and 1 rotating) and one cask beer. They seem to be consistently northern California beers (Moonlight, Iron Springs, Drake's, etc.). There are also some bottled beers, including a fruity Belgian...that, along with the wine and cider, can help please any of the "I don't like beer" people in your party.

Happy hour is 3-6pm M-F and an unbelievably generous 11am-6pm on weekends. It's $1 off, so the most expensive beer on tap becomes $4.25 and the cheapest, the totally decent Lanesplitter Pale Ale (brewed by Drake's) becomes $2.75. Nice.

Now, I can make my own damn pizza at home, but after a few beers those Lanesplitter pies start to smell really good. We gave in and ordered one last time, and because we were drunk, it had to be something like The Chopper, with 5 kinds of meat. Holy. F*cking. Cow. Yes, it's on the gourmet-pizza spendy side ($16.50 for a 15-incher), but hey...5 kinds of meat! A 15-inch mozzarella pie is a more thrifty $10.

And they've got vegan pizza, 'cause it's Berkeley.

Re: “Arizmendi Bakery and Pizzeria

I bring all my out of town visitors to Arizmendi...they love it. They all want one in their hometowns.... co-operative franchises!

Re: “Bella Roma Pizza

It is my understanding that they have moved to a diffrent location.....don't even think about going and have pizza it is the worlds worst.....I also know that the place was shut down by the county health dept. they found rat crap in pizza flour so don't even think about going there....the person who did the above entrance comments about the pizza being "kick ass" needs his head examined or maybe his taste for what a good pizza is..........
