Re: “Nature Vegetarian Restaurant

Let me start with the punchline: I was accused by the server that I walked out without paying the bill. Is that stereotypical or what?!!

Of course, they found the signed receipt while I stood outside waiting at the front door -- feeling humiliated on top of the bad service I received.

I was never offered water, they never came to check to see if everything was ok after the food was served. They rave about how fresh their food is, but can't provide fresh table top condiments. They are stale.

I did notice Everyone else in the establishment had water and were tended to and asked if everything was ok.

If they only knew who I was they wouldn't of made such a bad judgement based on gender, race, or creed. But this is the world we live in. I am happy to spend my money elsewhere where I am treated as a human being who is an upstanding American citizen who votes.

Re: “Shan Dong

After 22 years in a very nondescript building one experience a tradition likely hundreds if not thousands kid years in the making. Having heard an introduction on NPR just yesterday about "The Noodle Road" discovering a living gem representative of the pathway from Asia to Europe was quite a find and treat.

My son and I were verging on hunger when we say down. By the time our chicken, noodle, eggplant and famous dumplings arrived, we dove into and relished each.

The unique sauce is enough to get your rear into a seat.

The portions are huge! Do not order too much unless you can take home for a snack later on.

Re: “Nature Vegetarian Restaurant

Nature Vegetarian serves tasty, skillfully prepared and reasonably priced dishes a la the "monk's food" or vegetarian cuisine developed by Chinese chefs thousands of years ago. At last one can enjoy "roast pork" without worrying about the carcinogen content of the pork fat! Vegetables and "seafood" over pan fried, Cantonese noodles were also good. It's also a plus that N. V. is open for dinner in an Oakland neighborhood with mostly daytime only establishments.

Re: “Hong Kong BBQ Restaurant

Authantic. Delicious.

Excellent BBQ/Rosted duck, pork & chicken. Egg Flower soup... Excellent!! The Chow fun is terrific! Lots of choices. Nothing but Chinese patrons in this place. Go figure.

Great soups. Everything is good. Some excellent. Go more than once.

This is the real deal. Inexpensive, cheap and delicious.

Re: “Gourmet Delight Seafood Restaurant

The service is the worst we've ever experienced. Of course it was busy, but everyone seemed to be eating, so we thought we'd try our luck. It took 30 minutes after being seated just to have our order taken. We ordered 3 dishes - noodles, vegetables, and fish - nothing complicated. 40 minutes later, the waitress comes back to tell us that they are out of the Pea Sprouts we ordered and to pick another vegetable. OK, fine, we'll do the Bok Choy. 10 minutes go by and we watch as a waiter delivers an order of Pea Sprouts to a nearby table that came in well after us. Strike 1. Another 10 minutes roll by, still no food. The waitress comes by again to tell us, unapologetically, that they are now "out of chow fun". Strike 2. Fine, the birds nest noodles it is. Another 10 minutes pass, we finally get our bok choy. 5 minutes later, the 2 other dishes arrive. Everything was good, but maybe it only seemed that way because we waited SOOOO LONG for it. After we ate, we asked for the manager to complain and and all he could say was "sorry" to each of our gripes. Just "sorry". Strike 3. DO NOT EAT HERE if you expect great service or a friendly attitude. Not sure why they treated us so badly, but I will never eat there again (or maybe only if it's takeout). If you are trying to catch a movie afterward (and we were), DO NOT EAT HERE. They get to you when they feel like it and, dang it, they lied to us. Maybe if you are in a big group, they will give you a higher priority, but this experience just plain sucked.
