Re: “City Forcing West Oakland’s Alliance Metals to Close on August 20, But Supporters Argue Recyclers Have No Safety Net

Man you're literally talking about removing a huge help to that community. I lived near there, im from West Oakland and say this is absolutely bonkers.

Not mentioning being cited for excepting stolen property makes this bad journalism

Re: “Third Annual Ales for ALS Beer Festival Tomorrow at Faction Brewing in Alameda

I work at Fieldwork, a national market research firm, with a local office here in San Francisco. We are partnering with a pharmaceutical company on a research initiative targeting patients and caregivers of ALS. The pharmaceutical company expects to launch a new form of medication for the treatment of ALS. Our client would like to better understand the journey with ALS and include your opinions as they explore new treatments for this disease.

We are scheduling one-on-one interviews in our office on August 4. Sessions will last 1 hour. Patients will receive $200 for their time and caregivers will receive $100.

We are cognizant of some of the challenges presented with this disease and would be happy to work out travel logistics to help coordinate participation.
We would appreciate any help you can provide in helping us target ALS patients and/or caregivers. If you are comfortable, I can provide you with a flyer that can be circulated with your members at future events and support groups. For your time we are offering a $50 referral incentive that will be paid for every patient/caregiver that is referred and participates in the study.

If you know somebody...
Have them get in touch with us.
By Phone: 415.268.8686
By Email: info@sanfran.fieldwork.com

Have them mention your name when they contact us and we'll get you a referral bonus for helping us out.

Thanks!

Re: “Best of the East Bay 2016: Shopping & Services Writers' Picks

You have to be a Berkeley resident to use the BPL Tool Library. If you live in Oakland, you can rely on the larger (5000 items) tool lending library at the Temescal Branch!

Re: “Oakland's Culture Clash

Wow. It has gotten bad there. I owed a home in West Oakland from 2005 to 2008. In 2004 the city of Oakland was supposed to help build a People's Co-op Grocery store where the old abandon train station is on Wood St. They didn't do this not because the funds weren't there or that they didn't have a location. The real and honest reason simply is that city officials don't care about the black community. If you live there or move there, help support community gardens, keep calling and writing to the city until they come through with their end of the bargain, and if you can help the schools out by offering to tutor kids that need it for free. It's been over ten years that the city was suppose to build the grocery store. It's time. And if you have a problem with music then don't live there. West Oakland historically was been one of the corner stones for jazz, blues, hip hop, you name it. There are several music studios in West Oakland. That neighborhood has been a black community for many generations and they deserve some respect and some nurturing.

Re: “Survivor, Oakland City Hall: Power Struggle Led to Expulsion of City Clerk from Closed Session

Jamala Rahim you really need to stop. Looking at your social media page one would think you are still in high school. Just because you read some books and passed some tests doesn't make you smarter than anyone else. It certainly doesn't make you wiser. LaTonda has way more wisdom, character, excellent work ethic and moral values than you will ever have. That's why she was your manager. Kill the bitterness. Maybe you will move up from being the side chick which you consistently boast about on social media to a main chick.. Then you will have the attention you so desperately seek.

Re: “Best of the East Bay 2016: Food & Drink Writers' Picks

Thank you for including Richmond. I was getting increasingly annoyed in reading your other 2016 winners lists and not seeing the city we live in represented. The East Bay is much more than Oakland and Berkeley!

Re: “New Dating Site for Pot Users Has High Hopes

If you like you can me insane man for testifying and coming open to the public to glorify and rain praises upon the only one EXPERIENCED,ACCESSIBLE,TRUSTED AND MOST POWERFULLY spell caster called Ajayi Ololo for helping me use his reliable and sincere spell work to bring back to me my lovely wife after 8 months of separations. I and my wife had a misunderstanding that her family has to tell her to get a divorce which she did. Little did i know that she is really my wife and my woman. I know you reading this testimony will ask how did i know she is my woman and wife even after divorce. i get to know this because i always think of her anytime i find myself to be alone in the house and anytime i have that thinking i will always want to drink to forget about her, even with the drinks to clear her out of my brain the reflections of her beauty will always flash through my mind that i dont know what to do to get her back home. On thinking how to bring her back home for us to leave happily together and call off the divorce i went to marriage advisers and also register for how you need to get your broken marriage restored back. I spent two week on the seminar were we were always thought about the steps to take to restore a broken marriage back but to me it seems not to be helpful in anyway. my wife dont longer pick my calls and never wanted to see me again, and this was the woman that use to love, care, respect and adore me before. Her decision that resulted to our divorce was just a misup that could be easily be corrected after much apology to her that it will never repeat itself again. I know she getting to know that i was having affair outside our marriage is enough but my wife i use to know could not has gone so far even with the conviction of her family to do it. As for me i has a second a thought to know that there must be some enemies that must have been manipulating my wife against me and with that i need a help to rid of the enemy that could have entered her to make end our marriage even with much plead from my own side. on the point for searching and looking for help my mother said there is a man that she will refer me to help me. That it means am still in love with my wife since you are still thinking about her. On hearing this from my own mother helping me out on the adventure to get help to return back home my wife,i was so glad and happy. I felt so shock on the help she suggest that i should email (ajayiololo@yahoo.com) for help that he is a spell caster that i know for help and reliable work because it was this same spell caster that gave me drugs to be healed and cured of cancer and taken care off. not on till my lovely mother told me that spell casting is harmless but with the help of Ajayi Ololo that uses his spell casting to make your love realize and to kill and destroy any human begin involved on the process i never knew there is a man like Dr Ajayi Ololo that is been talked about all over the states and countries.

Re: “Survivor, Oakland City Hall: Power Struggle Led to Expulsion of City Clerk from Closed Session

Whoever had the courage and vision to share this information with the press, I am grateful. Of course, the news about giving away public land made the city look bad. That's because their actions were illegal & reprehensible. Duh! How stunning that these elected officials have made so many promises to improve transparency at city hall & now they're desperate to find out who's been sharing their embarassing secrets. Perhaps they were talking about switching from waxed paper to clear plastic wrap for their lunches. I hope that in November & other future elections, Oakland voters will not just vote for their old friends again. We so need new officials who will be honest, trustworthy, ethical leaders.

Re: “Beyond Cap-and-Trade: Many Environmentalists Say California Will Improve Climate Policy If It Reduces Emissions at Source

The issues contained within the present concepts of offsets are just one part of the larger problems created by CO2 emissions.

No matter what the scale of emission reduction is, atmospheric CO2 concentration will not be reduced. Only return to Earth of mineralized carbon can do that. Sequestration of carbon dioxide by regrowth of forests and greater soil organic carbon content will quickly be balanced by ecological releases of CO2.

Interregional and international offsets and traded allowances have been prohibited in several places around the world, and I would endorse their application , especially in places like the Bay Area. National policies might cap total emissions, and distribute them to the county levels and take into account the offsets from a variety of actions in national control targets. But, locally concentrated generation of GHG and other pollutants must, in all justice, remain -or be taken- under control of the local stakeholders.

I work with "Associated Carbon Technologies, Inc" that advocates conversion of biomass to fuels and residual chars, with the mineralized chars returned to soils as "biochar", an agriculturally beneficial soil amendment, with potential financial benefit to the biomass producers and converters from the sale of 'permanent' sequestration offsets.

Integrity does not come from or with a college degree. Does the word "transparency" have any definition in the city of Oakland?

Secrets and lies and watermarks. If the Mayor wants to know why her administration looks so bad she has only to look in the mirror.

Re: “Survivor, Oakland City Hall: Power Struggle Led to Expulsion of City Clerk from Closed Session

Jamaal,
Please read the City Charter banning the Clerk from closed session is illegal and the Clerk does not under the City Administrator aurhority. The Clerk works for the Council. Council is the only body that can legally hire/fire the City Clerk. The meeting at the City open/closed are Council meetings not administration meeting. The Administrator is simply staff in those meetings. Lastly, just because someone has a degree doesn't make them smart or correct. It appears there is something personal going on between the City Administrator and the City Clerk. It should not however have an impact on the Clerk performing the duties outlined in the Charter.

You have the wrong person. But I see you have nothing of substance left to say so you're resorting to desperate personal attacks. I see why the work was too much for you. I really hope you're done this time. You dumb is showing.

Mrs Wheeler how do you go from being a Day care provider and watching my son for 10 bucks an hour in 2010 to ranking #1 on the Legislative Recorder list with no prior experience? Are you having fun at the DOE, or maybe I have the wrong person.....LOL

Re: “Survivor, Oakland City Hall: Power Struggle Led to Expulsion of City Clerk from Closed Session

Ok. So be clear. You don't know me. If you did... You would know that you are ill equipped to continue this back and forth. Also, I'm using my real name so, unlike you I'm not hiding behind a pseudonym (fake name).

Now.. When I was hired at the city there was no list for Legislative Recorder. Another young lady and I were brought on as provisional. A test was created. I took it. Placed number 1 on the list and was hired permanently. I'm not sure where you got the information that I want hired over people that placed higher than me. It's simply a lie.

Also, LaTonda disclosed, prior to me being hired as provisional, that we had a prior relationship. It was no secret. There is no bombshell to drop. Everyone who needed to know... Knew. If they found out later it was none of their business to begin with.

To finish clearing up your lie filled post...I'll tell you that my reasons for leaving had nothing to do with the quantity of work. And it's none of anyone's business. I was doing more than my share of work long before I had to run the department by myself. I then continued to run agenda, including Council agenda and minutes, until a few months before I left. I didn't need overtime. I didn't need a ton of help. I just did my job. Everyone was doing multiple things. I didn't worry about what whoever should be doing. I did what needed to be done. I would have gladly gone back. I enjoyed my time at the City, because I did my job and left on excellent terms. So no...you don't understand me. Not at all.

Re: “Oakland SRO Tenants Sue Tech Housing Investors for Harassment

The same outfit has purchased the warehouse at 1919 Market, around the corner from my house. A group of neighbors have had to confront Danny Haber over the neglect of the HUGE building, and frankly our meetings with him just made my skin crawl. He was even suggesting that they put in a "dive bar", so apparently there's a pattern with him wanting to open bars on the properties they... well "manage" implies they actually DO something without being forced.

On a more personal level, Danny Haber is a late 20's "bro" who brought a case of cheap beer to the 1st community meeting, and acted surprised when none of us "grown ups" wanted any. He did not wear a suit or make any effort to appear professional. I don't know if he's had to deal with a group of angry homeowners near one of these blighted properties, but if he has, he certainly hasn't learned how to come across as something other than a creep who loves to drink.
