Re: “Oakland Activist Cat Brooks on President Trump: 'My Revolutionary Prayer'

When will the black on black genocide be acknowledged and become equally denounced? I live in East Oakland and with in a five houe radius, one family has lost both of their sons, another family lost a daughter, the other 3 lost a grandson each. All these murders were black on black killings. Facts prove that more black men are killed by black men then by any other race or law enforcement every year. I don't understand why there is not marching in the streets for that, why is this loss of so many black lives not a reason?

Re: “Oakland Activist Cat Brooks on President Trump: 'My Revolutionary Prayer'

Ask me about my brothers and sisters who are being persecuted all over the World! My skin color does not matter, nor does theirs, because everyone has RED BLOOD coming out when they are killed for not denying Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. You are speaking of discrimination, which is temporary. Start thinking bigger, like martyrdom, which is more important than any single thing in this life. Birth control? Seriously? You are a young person who should be thanking Jesus for your life.

Re: “Congresswoman Barbara Lee on President Trump: 'The Fight is Coming'

I agree we must try to understand one another and work together for the common good, and be thoroughly informed before shooting off opinions (both sides do this far too often).

However, where there is bullying, racism, naked greed, or an orchestrated campaign of lies, we must not be afraid to denounce it, refute it and condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

That is our duty as citizens

Re: “Congresswoman Barbara Lee on President Trump: 'The Fight is Coming'

I hope I can take a moment to encourage all readers of this msg to remember that United we stand and Divided we fall.

Clinton presented an incredibly gracious and profound message in defeat to encourage everyone to come together. President Obama delivered a message of focus, determination, encouragement and elegance toward transition to Trump. Trump made humble comments about working together. I look for the strength and positive energy in people and not feed off the negative energy. I never heard anything from anyone of those three (yesterday) about anything other than doing what they believe is right for America and all Americans.

Remember 8 yrs ago America made yet another historical transition. I hope whether your candidate won or lost that you will continue to work together toward unity, eradicating racism, developing trust/humility for others and looking out for the interest of others. Its up to each of you to decide to look Back or look Forward. I challenge you to do what you can to help build American together as every moment we spend against one another is lost time.

In sports you know when the referee makes a call, someone is unhappy. But its about "the next play" not complaining about the call (or potentially wrong call) of the last play. No matter who won yesterday I am and will remain an individual who is proud to be an American and will continue to do whatever I can to make it better.

I am friends with Independents, Republicans and Democrats...we can and MUST get along. Like the movie says we are all different instruments, but "One band, One sound"!

Thank you for listening!

I am so proud to have you represent me, Representative Barbara Lee. Show us the way to protect and keep our American values. And get rid of the White Supremacists he is allowing to control OUR White House and advise presidential policies.

Re: “Oakland's Ron Dellums on President Trump: 'Step Forward'

I believe in the wisdom of Ron Dellums words in calling on the Left to work with Democratic leadership in defense of the meaning of America and what Lincoln called the "natural better angels of our nature."

He knows the history of Oakland and when those from the Black Community formed a coalition politics to fight job and housing segregation of the day and won extraordinary victories with that coalition politics.

Re: “Congresswoman Barbara Lee on President Trump: 'The Fight is Coming'

Tom - Don't forget that this is the first election after the Voting Rights Act was gutted earlier this year. There were almost 900 fewer polling places and a number of states with histories of voter suppression did their best to set up as many obstacles as possible. I imagine there were a lot of people who "can't" rather than "don't".

Re: “Congresswoman Barbara Lee on President Trump: 'The Fight is Coming'

No weapon formed against us shall or will prosper... Like we used to say when I was a kid dig one ditch better dig two. Gird up and put on the armor....No weapon....United States and the United Nations will come to a head just like Hitler did if America stays on this path ... the world is watching along with those in America who stand for liberty and justice...
