Re: “Marriage and Biology

people these days want to define so many things that are constantly changing and when that comes into play, how would one define something so complex with endless possibilities? embracing differences could be one of the best ways to forge unity. although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, i say the decision should be up to those who want to live their life the way they want to live it.
this is a very great read. please keep up the awesome work, thank you!

Re: “Marriage and Biology

gay marriage or straight marriage

the state of marriage is only a value to the third party as a requirement to join there tribe

marriage has no value to party a or b only an instrument to obtain passage

Re: “Proud to Be Mixed

Cool, I'm multiracial, too. And as such, feel I have the right to dislike all races equally. It's okay to be a misanthrope as long as there are dogs.

Re: “Model Cities Have Public Spaces

I appreciate Ms. Roy bringing this matter to the public's attention. Far more than disappointed, I'm outraged. It looks like the citizens of Oakland have been defrauded out of $64,000,000. That's a heck of a lot of money. Moreover, the outcome reeks of the worst problem associated with privitization; namely, private interests use public money for their interests and shaft the public in the process.

Re: “Searching for Home

aww sweet story, its a curious world out there for the communally minded..
If you the random reader, yourself are still curious, you can check out this site...
http://housing.barringtoncollective.org/
It is a local wiki listing of coop houses, communal, collective, etc,

Asa Dodsworth,
The Acton House Permaculture Army
If you know our house, and liked it before, but thought it was too messy, come check it out again, many things have changed

Re: “Marriage and Biology

I can't begin to describe how wrong "east bay jose" is. Besides being an imbecile who uses poor grammar and capitalization, he missed the point of the article completely. I really appreciate how you approached this interesting and delicate subject matter in such a diplomatic, non-partisan way. Thanks for the great read!

Re: “How My Kids Changed Me

ly raya.... you've lost your sense of humor! Maybe you have too many kids? I laughed the whole way through. Fresh as a spring breeze and straight from the heart, a fun read! Keep up the good work, Mr. Botello!!

He may not be "Mr. Vapid" or "Mr. Selfish" anymore but definitely is Mr. Arrogant Bastard.

Amazing that one person can find so much charm in a dump.

Re: “Marriage and Biology

please. gay marriage isn't about a person claiming to be a man marrying a person claiming to be a woman, and the rest of us insisting that they pass some chromosomal litmus test. it is about two people claiming to be the same gender marrying. if you can't get this simple concept, well, you probably belong working in a laboratory.

Re: “Enjoy the Silence

What? I can't ... could you turn down ... oh. i'm kinda weird about noise. i wear these industrial ear protectors on airplanes. i used to be a rock critic. can't anymore. hurts too much. might wear those industrial ear protectors to shows too. also the noise canceling (bose) headphones work well on planes. but i don't think they cut out as much as your basic big-ass industrial ear protectors -- you know, like the ones airport baggage handlers wear. anyway, yeah, it's definitely too noisy. best--ct

thanks, steve. "The idea that only private spending boosts economic growth is a self-serving corporate canard that should be frankly labeled as such. " Agreed. hope he wins.--ct

Re: “Enjoy the Silence

Thank you for this article. I have been talking to people about this issue for years, and I couldn't have put it better myself.
When noise becomes so ubiquitous, most people learn to 'tune it out' -- and aren't aware of how much this nonstop audio assault
continues to be destructive to their physical and mental well-being, and to the society at large.
It took a long hard effort to educate the public to the dangers of secondhand smoke, but eventually that campaign was a success.
We need a similar effort to educate people about the damage being done by noise.

Re: “Will the PUC Step in to Prevent AT&T Rate Hikes?

ATT is the current name for Pac Bell, SBC and now ATT. Their mantra is simple, do EVERYthing to squash competition, shift as many costs as possiblle to "regulated" costs to show how expensive is is to maintain those "expensive" land lines and raise rates with abandon.

Oh one other thing, if the government illegally ask us to tap phone without a warrant, as long as we are paid handsomly we will do it and of course when sued (thanks EFF) insist on immunity from Congress. The only person I can see who can prevent this immuinity from occurirng is Nancy Pelosi. Alas she can be purchased also. ATT's liabiliy for this illegal activity could be more than the value of their company.

Oh we have the best telecom service in the world...well actually we dont any more.

If Judge Greene could just see you now

Re: “About Eileen

Greg,
I don't remember it at all! My room was at the base of the stairs. Although our loft had much liquid running through it from time to time. Thanks for bailing me out of jail once long ago. I think of those days with fondness and wonder. I'm sure someone will write a book about all the antics and characters that ran through New Method. Glad you are well. And who the hell is AMIR? Are we not using his name because of the Bush/anti Iranian forces???
