I hope someone can show the new guy around a bit.

Brotzeit? Beer Garden on Telegraph? Speiskammer?

Re: “Escape the Music Festival Industrial Complex at this year's Burger Boogaloo

"Egregious example" -god, smoke a joint and chill. Two words: Wu-Tang Clan. People of all groups reference other cultures insensitively at times. EBX always using a white example of it -that's egregious.

Burgers and Boogaloo sounds like fun.

Re: “Escape the Music Festival Industrial Complex at this year's Burger Boogaloo

And at around fifty bucks to attend both days of the festival, the Burger Boogaloo is a great bargain too. And it really is a great community event where everybody has fun, no matter who is playing. Seriously.

Re: “A Rundown of East Bay Dog Parks

East Bay regional Park District parks are generally Dog friendly & offer wonderful opportunities for great hikes.

Re: “A Guide to East Bay Museums On a Budget – As In Zero Budget

Don't forget that most Bay Area libraries offer free and discounted museum passes through Discover and Go--if you have a library card, you can go all sorts of places for free!

Yeah, we've been going to the Oakland Museum of CA on their FREE FIRST SUNDAYS, for years!

Re: “42 Things You Absolutely Must Do in the East Bay this Summer

How could you leave out the world-class UC Botanical Garden? It's on Centennial Drive between LHS and the football stadium. It has one of the world's largest collections of plants, about 12,000 species. A wonderful peaceful place, with views of the Golden Gate.

Re: “The East Bay's Best Outdoor Climbing Spots

Daisy, thank you for posting this information. I am contemplating moving to Oakland for a job and it is good to see there are local outdoor climbing spots.

Re: “East Bay Bike Routes for Urban Explorers

If the 5 Historic Houses bike tour isn't long enough, you can make it a 6 house tour and start at the Dunsmuir-Hellman mansion.

Re: “The East Bay's Ten Best Outdoor Dining Experiences

You need to update this list with Mad Oak, Oakland's newest bar that has a beautiful roof top deck that overlooks a spacious urban patio.

Re: “The East Bay's Ten Best Outdoor Dining Experiences

The funny thing at Cheese Board Pizza in Berkeley is the sign on the grassy median where Cal students sit and eat..

it says Do Not Sit on the Median!

Ha! Like anyone is going to pay attention.

Re: “East Bay Bike Routes for Urban Explorers

Good review of some local bike rides! I would, however, quibble with is your suggestion to cross the estuary on the Park Street bridge. That requires either using the narrow pedestrian walkway where you're required to walk your bike, or navigating the unpleasant steel grid bridge deck. A better option is to cross via the Fruitvale Bridge, then follow the 7th Street bike route that takes you under 29th Avenue and onto Embarcadero.

Re: “East Bay Bike Routes for Urban Explorers

Nice comprehensive look at some local rides. In terms of the Pinehurst ride, I like to take BART to Lafayette, depart through the back entrance and cycle over to the Lafayette/Moraga off road bike trail, past St Mary's, then to the EBMUD reservoir and do some birdwatching before cycling through Canyon and the redwoods before coming up Pinehurst and have lunch on the bench where it intersects with Skyline, look at views of Mt Diablo before heading back via Old Tunnel Road, Snake or Shepherd's Canyon. A great 3 or so hour ride with some hills and great vistas, sun and partial shade. I've also written about the Niles Canyon ride here but biker beware!
