More like most brazen school official. Displacing elementary school students and families, displacing high school teachers, destabilizing three high school communities in east and west Oakland is hardly courageous. Controversial? Yes. It is as experimental as it is detrimental.

I am working on my second show with Kendra and she is so deserving of this recognition. Kendra is a pro: balancing the art & craft of acting with the demands of being a professional performing artist in the bay area.
She's currently in final rehearsals playing Kristin in A Doll's House by Ibsen, at the Willows Theatre in Concord, which begins previews July 23rd.
Go see Kendra ply her craft in one of the greatest dramas ever written.

Apparently Oakland and Berkeley exist on their own private East Bay Island where Hayward, San Leandro, Concord, Walnut Creek (etc) don't exist or aren't invited. Don't call this Best of the East Bay, call this Best of Oakland and Berkeley or Best of Some of the East Bay.

Dammit east bay express. You think after that huge cover story you did basically blowing up all the DIY venue's that people have worked their asses off from getting shut down you would have learned a lesson. Next time a touring band needs a show, or people need somewhere for a zine workshop, we're taking over your offices.

This is what i've been saying for some time. There are a lot of us here on the Avenue who are very very good at what we do, and we have merchants who are listening. This should go on growing into something quite wonderful. CK Gallery is only a beginning to the gallery scene that could and should exist here on the Ave.
