Re: “The Writhing on the Wall

Very, very minor quibble... Gilman did not write the story in 1892, but in 1890 (actually, on this exact date in 1890 as I write this). It took her some time to find a publisher. See: http://americanliteraryblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/gilman-color-is-repellant.html

Re: “The Affairs

Depression is a DAILY struggle; it takes hard work to overcome it. For anyone suffering from depression, I recommend the http://destroydepression.com/info.php system. Written by James Gordon, a former depression & PTSD sufferer, it teaches 7 natural steps which he used to cure his own depression and has helped thousands.

If GATS wanted to comment on this article, he couldn't because it's against the East Bay Express' policy.

Re: “It's Time to Hang the Hooter Hider Out to Dry

Yes!!! These comtraptions are such big business right now & so ridiculous, too. I think it also encourages new moms/moms-to-be when they see another mother just nursing her baby without covering up & making the act of nursing a baby into something that needs to be covered up & hidden away. We need to be able to feed our babies without carrying a tarp with us wherever we go.

Re: “It's Time to Hang the Hooter Hider Out to Dry

"Hooter Hiders"?!?! Says it all, really...these are sex objects. Isn't sex supposed to be in "private"? Seems people cannot fathom they are as precious to a baby's survival as they are a source of delight and pleasure in our culture.
I never covered when breast feeding. A couple of times though, people I cared about were shocked and uncomfortable in the presence of my exposed breast feeding. Their comfort mattered to me. I took it into consideration.

Re: “Teachable Moments

Dear Dan,

Thank you. I love your advice.

I just want to add (as a former teacher) that STOP should definitely report what her former teacher is doing to the school principal- along with forwarding the dick pics and texts. Most importantly it gives the school a warning to keep an eye on this teacher and his interactions with other students. His inappropriate behavior may express itself differently with other kids. I would not assume he does not/will not act on the same sexual impulses with other more vulnerable underage kids.

Re: “Why You Should Wrestle with Your Daughter

That's terrific advice. I'm a sixty year old woman whose fondest childhood memories are roughhousing with my dad and brothers. I do think it helped me develop a more adventurous and confident character.
