Re: “Defending Nonmonogamy

Dan you are a Westcoast hero! This first segment struck a chord:
"Successfully nonmonogamous straight couples typically aren't out to their friends, families, and co-workers. We tend to learn that someone we know is in a nonmonogamous relationship when it implodes and people — both inside and outside the relationship — cast around, looking for something or someone to blame." So I decided to delve into the conversation

Re: “Hit Me with Your Best Shot

Yes, an effective technique is screaming to the top of your lungs, and then running as fast as you can (if you are able to, if not the scream will work wonders).

Karate trains the mind, body, and spirit. Training the spirit teaches one to remain clam, think clearly in most situations. One thing I was taught when I was younger because I never hit anyone was to hit to never hit. Training in the dojo is to understand your body, gain information about what the body can and cannot do, and to understand the damage it can do, to respect the techniques, and the people...

Karate begins and end with respect. Train you body, mind, and spirit. Never give up. Keep trying. Try your best to improve who you were yesterday. This is karatedo. :)

A traditional martial art isn't about maliciously hitting someone, it is about not hitting them, instead, thinking, adapting to the situation - it is a way of life!

Check out the new school in Pleasanton: http://www.trivalleykarate.com for more information on karate. Also, it is a way to train for the unexpected, you never know when you, a friend, your family's life will be threatened.

Re: “Resurrection of Rappin' 4-Tay

if i knew 4-TAY was still doin his thang, won't miss me there to appreciate REAL WC RAP in it's different sub-genres. a legend in it's own right, 4-TAY repped early in WC hiphop when there was not much support or history to learn from, putting it down for the playaz, those who don't know are missing out!! like G-Funk here in the LBC, you won't find music anywhere else with this sound and feel! if you reading 4-Tay, yo, you inspired many that you don't even know about. keep doing it in Cali and worldwide and thats REAL TALK.

Re: “Sexsomnia Sucks

Thank you for writing this article about Sexsmonia. Sexsomnia is a very misundertood parasomnia that needs much more research.

I was diagnosed with severe sexsomnia in 2006 and I can tell you, from personal experience, that it is very frightening and scary. I am doing much better since my diagnosis but not because of medication. Perhaps lighter forms of sexsomnia can be treated with medicine but in my case it only served to exacerbate my illness.

My sexsomnia improved by addressing the underlying causes (triggers) in a healthy and productive manner. Essentially, psychotherapy. I have found that sexsomnia is like cancer in that it cannot be completely cured, at best all one can really do is identify their triggers and learn to use them to mitigate future sexsomnia episodes. Like cancer, the goal is remission. I use cancer as an analogy because a person does not choose to have sexsomnia or cancer, they are simply the realities of life and the cards we were dealt. It is upon us, the afflicted, to do the best we can to address our respective conditions in a healthy and constructive way.

I recently launched a site, Sexsomniacs Journey, as a place for Sexsomniacs, those that love us, and the curious to convene in a safe, understanding, accepting, and friendly environment. I sincerely hope that we will grow into a strong and vibrant online community that shares our experiences with each other and assists one another to get better.

Sexsomniacs Journey is one stop shopping for all matters pertaining to sexsomnia. From articles, news, and studies by the leading psychologists and psychiatrists to defining sexsomnia (courtesy of Wikipedia), discussing triggers, and having an open forum to encourage conversation about what all of us are going through. New content is being added constantly as it is found on the web, posted by members, or myself.

Again, I greatly appreciate you apprising everyone of Sexsomnia. I would like to partner with you to increase Sexsomnia Awareness. Please visit Sexsomniacs Journey, http://sexsomniacsjourney.com/about/, and contact me directly if interested. Thank you.

Take care and be well.

Re: “New Growth in Temescal Alley Means Death for Polymorph Recording

I've played the Stikman's and Dan Rathbun's music, and many bands that have recorded at Polymorph, regularly during my radio show at London's Resonance FM. There is a world-wide underground that appreciates what's gone on there, and if the locals had any sense, they'd treasure the uniqueness of that the way Portobello Rd and Brick Lane treasure the input from the branches of the world-famous Rough Trade Records. Have a care before you lose it.

Re: “New Growth in Temescal Alley Means Death for Polymorph Recording

LONG Before Big Box retail and internet monsters like Amazon help demolish main street in the U.S., Real Estate speculation has killed: Record Stores, Book Stores, Cafes, underground style purveyors of all kinds, and, yes, recording studios and the like---> FACELESS "owners" could give a crap about those who paved the way EVERY TIME.... Polymorph will be sorely missed (3 of my bands recorded there) and Sarita Waite will lose no sleep over it, though she CERTAINLY SHOULD. Thanks for helping to screw the music community, Ms. Waite- and letting the almighty dollar have the final word once again....

Sure, people can cut albums on their own without the help of a professional if they don't care what it sounds like.
A thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters = a thousand Home Produsahs on a thousand laptops running Fruity Loops and a cracked version of Pro Tools 7.

Re: “Killer Across the Carquinez

There is Truth to which is portrayed in your statements and there are false truths just to write a good novel. I am the daughter of Frank Koehler. I am here to reveal there is more to this story than meets the many of the eyes that were written about my father. As far as the nephews trying to create a disturbance in how their uncle was protrayed. What facts do you have to back up your claim. I say to you know that is a false statement. Show me the facts Ms. Cameron for I am truly interested of your true side to your story with my father.
Sincerely, Michele Koehler (mishikoehler@yahoo.com)

Re: “A Decidedly Special Delivery

The Sunday viewing was kept lowkey following the massive turnout on opening night, but you can still see it the last two Sundays in September (noon-6 p.m). It's located at 1350 Fourth St., Berkeley. Someone will let you in through the gate.
