Re: “Big Soda Is Spending Big Money Against Oakland Sugary Beverage Tax Proposal

Taxes on soda, snacks or candy is just a way to tax poor people. Their not going eat any less of it. They'll just pay more. They already pay more whenever the price goes up. So now government gets a cut. Calling them "Big Soda" is designed to vilify these companies for doing legal business. Soon I can see taxes on all food for our own good for some future reason.

Re: “Marijuana Legalization Proponents Sue Sen. Dianne Feinstein Over Proposition 64

Hey Miles,
The plan is to take this issue all the way to the Federal Supreme Court if necessary right NOW! Why wait till the pot boils over (excuse the pun) and people's livelihood and assets have been put in jeopardy! Just as people are made to believe that putting the cart (state law) before the horse (federal law) and making cannabis quasi legal at a state level while federal law enforcement entities like the IRS simply look the other way is ridiculous and a pipe dream ( another pun) my fellow marijuana smoker. It's as simple as this my friend, always ask for permission (from the Feds) rather than forgiveness in federal court later...right?! I'm not trying to spread a campaign of "fear" but rather an individual who's a champion of "truth" seeking justice and educating the public and the people of the facts in this matter! I'm in the process of launching a blog to just that, educate everyone as to my personal experiences and hands on knowledge of this industry so that we ALL don't have to go through the marijuana business mayhem and madness that exist in the real world today. Rather than taking a negative attitude and saying defamatory statements about people and organization you simply know nothing about I highly suggest you open your eyes and actually see the writing on the wall and do what's necessary. I have several lawsuits filed in order to bring these various matters involving marijuana to light and in order to educate the public of the major problems that exist in this business and the industry as a whole. We need to ALL join together, look at the facts and the truth and actually do something about it before it's too late and the rights and freedoms we ALL should have to grow and produce our own medicine from a natural plant put on earth by God are taken away by our own government and the corporation that want to control, regulate and tax cannabis. Wake up Miles and smell the marijuana and what the capitalist cannabis conspiracy is trying to do by misleading and misguiding people who chose to use marijuana as their personal choice of medicine for whatever reason. Cannabis is not the new cash cow for corporations and our governments simply because a smaller percentage of us choose to and use marijuana rather than alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs. This is truly a matter of common sense and knowledge of the facts surrounding the stigma created many years ago to stymie the most productive plant on the planet! If you'd like to talk to me personally or debate this matter I welcome your input and or questions so feel free and email me me at dave@medimarts.com and I'll gladly respond in a timely manner.

Sincerely Concerned,

Re: “Marijuana Legalization Proponents Sue Sen. Dianne Feinstein Over Proposition 64

@Dave Armstrong: Right, like how the feds and IRS are busting and shutting down the *legal* weed businesses right now in Colorado and Washington state, huh ... ?!

As for "thousands of us to potential slaughter"--hyperbole much?--over 15,000 people *were* busted in California for weed in 2015, a number which will drop by at least 80%, based on the experience in CO and WA ...

So what's *your* solution; wait another two years (30,000 more busted) or four years (60,000 busted), or maybe another twenty (300,000 busted) for the "perfect" legalization that you "215" profiteers somehow never seem to be able to even get on the ballot?

The only ones facing a "loss of livelihood" are you and the other so-called "non-profit collectives", which is why, other than the cops, corporate prisons, and pharma and rehab tools like S[c]AM, you're the ones spreading all the fear and disinformation.

Re: “Anti-Legalizers Sue California Over Prop 64 Ballot Language

Marijuana consumers deserve and demand equal rights and protections under our laws that are currently afforded to the drinkers of far more dangerous and deadly, yet perfectly legal, widely accepted, endlessly advertised and glorified as an All American pastime, booze.

Plain and simple!

Legalize Marijuana Nationwide!

It's time for us, the majority of The People to take back control of our national marijuana policy. By voting OUT of office any and all politicians who very publicly and vocally admit to having an anti-marijuana, prohibitionist agenda! Time to vote'em all OUT of office. Period. Plain and simple.

Politicians who continue to demonize Marijuana, Corrupt Law Enforcement Officials who prefer to ruin peoples lives over Marijuana possession rather than solve real crimes who fund their departments toys and salaries with monies acquired through Marijuana home raids, seizures and forfeitures, and so-called "Addiction Specialists" who make their income off of the judicial misfortunes of our citizens who choose marijuana, - Your actions go against The Will of The People and Your Days In Office Are Numbered! Find new careers before you don't have one.

The People have spoken! Get on-board with Marijuana Legalization Nationwide, or be left behind and find new careers. Your choice.

Legalize Nationwide!

Re: “Marijuana Legalization Proponents Sue Sen. Dianne Feinstein Over Proposition 64

If you want to truly discuss misleading information and deception and consumer protection then explain how Prop 64 and recent legislation (MMRSA) can turn federal law (CSA) and current state law (Prop 215) completely upside down. If you're really concerned with violating federal advertising laws and kids then the fact that anyone having anything to do with marijuana faces federal enforcement and potential incarceration from the IRS! So when the state, county or city you live or operate in ask you to make a "sale" and pay "sales" taxes your setting yourself up for disaster and will be out of business just as fast as you got into business. This is a travesty of justice and an outright lie being fed to Californians just so they can turn the "Comoassionate Use Act" into the "Cash in on our Use Act" and fill state and local municipalities coffers with cash from cannabis. The state, county and city governments cannot and will not protect anyone from the long arm of the IRS and Rule 280E or the potential of criminal charges and imprisonment! Wake up California and smell the cannabis crisis being brewed up by our trusted lawmakers, just say NO (on Prop 64) to our leaders who are purposefully leading thousands of us to potential slaughter and the loss of your assets and livelihood!

Re: “Marijuana Legalization Proponents Sue Sen. Dianne Feinstein Over Proposition 64

DINO or not, there's not much progressive about the Democratic Party. If anything at all.

Feinstein is more like a dinosaur than a DINO. Her ideas are ancient and tend towards violence and repression far more than civil liberty or rights.

In addition she's definitely a one percenter, filthy rich and very out-of-touch with ordinary folks.

Re: “Oakland’s Only Nigerian Restaurant Makes Way for a New Beer Garden

In was born and raised in Oakland, and live with my wife and kid in our home in the Laurel. The outrage in this page is ridiculous and misplaced. I've been waiting for a spot like this beer garden here for over 20 years. I can't wait for my family and I to become regulars there.

A charter school can cut corners that a public school cannot - in this case, a thorough environmental review before putting children into a facility.

Was there any testing data on the tap water safety at the site?

Re: “Bay Area Weed Authors Throw Free Book Party 'Lit LIT!' Aug. 17

What facts are these authors (not so-called) withholding from the public? Who do you know is intimately involved with medical marijuana and not aware of the very real dangers that are present from just growing/handling what is still a Schedule I substance? Why exactly are you so angry? Have you spoken to any one of these authors?

Re: “Las Vegas Now A Bust for Most California Medical Pot Patients

So let's put this question of "reciprocity" in another light and use the right to bear arms (2nd Amendmebt) as an anology. Let's say we were talking about guns and the right to carry a firearm, if I buy a gun and follow the laws of the land and someone else goes further wanting to aquire a concealed weapons permit does that give the permit holder more of a right to gear arms? A larger percentage of individuals don't go the extra mile and request or require a permit to do what is a civil right when they wish to protect themselves so why should an individual who has the right to choose what kind of medicine or product they want to ingest or enjoy have to go the extra mile and get a permit or special permission in order to do so? Just say'in that we all need to stop the madness and stigma placed on marijuana by our government and corporate capitalist from the 70's and look at the facts and the future of camnabis, a plant put on this planet by God for a purpose and s reason!

Think about it and think outside of the media and government controlled box!

Re: “Bay Area Weed Authors Throw Free Book Party 'Lit LIT!' Aug. 17

I have never seen such a blatant attempt to profiteer from the ignorance of medical patients than these so-called authors and individuals putting everyone's livelihood in jeopardy because they won't and don't tell the truth and the facts to the people! Until the IRS says you can "sell", "grow" and "profit" from a controlled substance NO one is safe and everyone will be sorry when the Federal Tax Man comes calling or audits you! While these individuals proport you to blatantly violate federal law without explaining the risks and potential of prosecution and the loss of your assets and livelihood by having to spend ten years to life in prison is preposterous. The fact is plain and simple folks, anyone having anything to do with marijuana can't avoid federal law and the IRS, DOJ & DEA! Uncle Sam wants YOU in federal prison and your assets for following state and local municipalities laws simply so they can "profiteer" themselves, if they thought they could do it themselves without the same threats we ALL face then they'd be doing it on their own! Wake up America and smell what the cannabis is cooking, cannabis has become a cash cow for California and were infecting the rest of the greedy nation now!

Re: “Controversial 'Bulletproof' Police Firearms Training Canceled by Santa Clara Sheriff

Chip, you're not a Solider or Marine. You're not in a foreign land fighting an enemy combatant. You are a civilian first and foremost that has been given a level of authority by the state, county, or city to enforce laws. There is *no* war between LEO and the civilian population that you have sworn to protect and serve.

The fact that you compare your duties as being at War with the civilian population is quite disturbing and ridiculous at best. I'm actually quite surprised you passed the psych test as this is something that should be screened out.

While I don't deny that the job you chose on your own free will is difficult and dangerous or that the accusations by the other posters are misguided, you're not the mercenary of the state. People like you are not defending my freedom or protecting me.

Re: “Controversial 'Bulletproof' Police Firearms Training Canceled by Santa Clara Sheriff

The pseudonymous "Chip DeBlock" makes it clear that he has problems reading when he says: "Well, it didn't take long before people like Hobart Johnson threw the race card."

My comments were written expressly NOT to "throw the race card" and to refer to shootings of civilians in general not those of a certain group.

Not to harp on the policy statement that's written below the comment area: "Anonymous and pseudonymous comments will be removed." Bye bye "Chip."

Re: “Critics Say 'Troubling' New California Bill Would Keep Even More Police Body-Camera Footage Secret

Well of course ANY video of Anyone being murdered is morbid and offensive, so thry get to keep all the footage of them slaughtering people, from the cameras that were implemented in the first place fir transparency. Makes perfect sense.

Not to beat a dead horse, but for those of you interested in looking at a deadly force video (less than 3 mins long) and seeing how good you are at determining whether or not it's a good shoot, here's a link to the one we just put together:

Re: “Controversial 'Bulletproof' Police Firearms Training Canceled by Santa Clara Sheriff

Well, it didn't take long before people like Hobart Johnson threw the race card and Miles Monroe demonstrated he is clueless about the war inside our borders. I know Miles Monroe is not a LEO and I hope to God Hobart Johnson isn't either.

One thing cops like about each other is telling it like it is. There is no sugar coating and no facade. So, let me take a stab at it:

Hobart Johnson, you are either ineptly unaware of the factual data surround OISs or are intentionally misrepresenting the facts. If bad guys didn't try to kill LEOs and obeyed law enforcement's commands, they wouldn't get shot! Did you know that The Washington Post compiled data shows that:
1. Cops killed nearly twice as many whites as blacks in 2015
2. More whites and Hispanics die from police homicides than blacks
3. Black and Hispanic officers are more likely to shoot blacks than white cops
4. Blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops

Also, when interpreting stats to say that cops are more likely to kill an unarmed black man than an unarmed white man, what is not being revealed is that they are giving the label of being "unarmed" to bad guys trying to get the officer's gun, beating the cop with his own equipment, etc..

Don't stop reading, it gets better...a new study by Harvard Professor Roland G. Fryer Jr. (a black man) found NO RACIAL BIAS in how law enforcement used lethal force against blacks. Sorry to take the wind out of your sail!

We actually talked about racism in law enforcement on Episode 64 of the LEO Round Table law enforcement talk show in case you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeX_yUq2DQ8

Miles Monroe, I still can't believe you have your head in the sand when it comes to war in the United States. So kindly get your notepad because SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. You can start by doing the following:

1. Drafting a letter to the families of the 49 people killed and to the 53 people injured in the June 12th Pulse nightclub mass shooting by domestic terrorist Omar Mateen. Oh, BTW, the shooter was killed by Orlando police.
2. Drafting a letter to the families of the 5 police officers killed, the 7 police officers injured and the 2 civilians injured on July 7th by Dallas sniper Micah Xavier Johnson. The sniper was killed by police.
3. Drafting a letter to the families of the 3 police officers killed and the 3 police officers wounded on July 17th by Baton Rouge gunman Gavin Long.

Of course I said "draft" because you would be crucified by the public if you were insensitive enough to actually send it. It's bad enough that there's a real war out there and law enforcement is having to fight it, but it's INFURIATING that you refuse to acknowledge the actual presence of this war and law enforcement's role in fighting it FOR YOU!
