Re: “To Stop Fake News, Liberals and Progressives Need to Kick the Fake-Talk Habit

Not only the fake news but the lack of honest coverage of all candidates running for office ...Media needs to report the facts and the truth and stop acting lime they are the only entities in the know while not disclosing the facts and individuals and letting the readers and public draw their own conclusions!

One reporters opinion does not reflect the opinions of the whole! Biased coverage at the expense of full disclosure and (my favorite word) TRANSPARENCY does not the right to choose to the public!

Not sure if I'm completely on board with the author, but what he is talking about is news media promulgating fake talk. Mr. Eroster's comment really isn't pertinent to this issue. Almena's attorney, Tony Serra isn't a member of the news media; he's a lawyer, and lawyers do fake talking all the time.

Re: “To Stop Fake News, Liberals and Progressives Need to Kick the Fake-Talk Habit

Here us a prime example of "fake talk" you can run out and investigate immediately. Derick Ion Almena's attorney says his client is in danger of being "scapegoated" because Oakland fears liability and "multi-million" dollar lawsuits. But as an attorney, Mr. Sera obviously is aware that a city is protected by a highly-specific, dead-on applicable section of the California Tort Claims Act which bars liability arising from a failure to inspect buildings.

Why isn't anybody smart enough in the media to point this out and ask a follow up question? Why is the media just allowing Mr. Sera to talk about an imaginary "multi-million" dollar lawsuit against the city which doesn't appear legally possible? Somebody in the media...grow a brain and ask a grown up question.
