Re: “Mayor Quan's Magical Mystery Poll

p.s. I guess it's a Cheshire poll. All you can see is its grin.

Re: “Mayor Quan's Magical Mystery Poll

I don't care whether or not she graduated from UC (I think she did). In my book she was already a weasel. Now the Trib is reporting that SIEGEL has responded on behalf of Quan to BANG's public records request, saying the existence of a document doesn't make it public record, according to the Trib. This is idiotic. The whole point is that Quan used the (alleged) document in doing government business, advocating for policy.

Hey, re "alleged" - suppose a document doesn't exist, but is referred to in advocating for public policy, and in that sense, used in the course of doing government business, thereby making it public record. What happens to a public records request if the document doesn't actually exist? Can the government official who referred to it be penalized some other way?

Anyhow, apparently BANG now has formally submitted their public records request to the ACTUAL city attorney, Dan Russo. And he's gone on record saying the poll should be made public.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Re: “Mayor Quan's Magical Mystery Poll

She's a faker in so many ways. A complete faker. Mayor Quan has also been faking that she has a degree from UC Berkeley. She graduated from high school but never graduated college.

She's way over her head as Mayor of Oakland and it grows more apparent every day.

You drew my hat all wrong. Also, next time make my lawyer look like Jean-Luc Picard, but with a beard.

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

True. It is weak. Well known fact that the City Attorney did not stop showing up for meetings. He never started showing up to meetings. He never sat at the dias (per City Charter requirements) from the start. Weak.

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

Didn't catch that print on the first scan, thanks for pointing it out.

As for the man's soul, I have to disagree. I've known John for a few years now, and there's a big difference between a person with an id-like ego and Russo, who's a big personality who fights hard for what he believes in.

I had a conversation at the Budget meeting on monday with a long-time Oakland activist who's a strong opponent of the gang injunction, but who described John's seemingly imminent departure to Alameda as a "terrible loss" for our city. When I expressed surprise, given her stance on the injunction issue, she said she thought he had done the injunctions the wrong way, but that she thought he was one of the most principled people in City Hall. Pretty sure the person I'm talking about supported Quan in the last election, too.

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

Caricature is more about a man's soul than his face, so the arched brows and id-like ego of Jack Nicholson is more than appropriate.
Max, the push poll item was printed in Seven Days.…

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

I was going to say it looks like James Caan or John Spencer from the West Wing. It looks nothing like Russo.

As for the content, it's a load of manipulative crap. Rather disappointed that the Express ran this cartoon in print, but not this piece:

Re: “John Russo's E-Z Guide to Job Hunting

Justin, the character looks more like Jack Nicholson than John Russo, but I LIKE IT nonetheless. Why bother with ethics, when you have ego?
