Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
You can do it Teena. You been around and have the best fish lunch special in downtown Oakland.
Michelin ignores so many good dining cities, Hopefully Oakland will get its time soon
This is good news on several levels.
Omgeeee that would be wonderful... God bless
OMGGGG I sure hope this happens. I miss Nellie's. Those oxtails and the dressing..muahh. Please keep us all updated. What a gift to start the holidays with.!!!!

A shame we can't keep good spots for long
What a blessing it would be.
I'm doing the happy dance right now!
thank lord Jesus

Walter, you are a Rare and Precious Species of Dolt. Obviously, you've never worked in a kitchen.. STFU.
Hate to go all conspiracy here but this story is pretty suspicious to me. Why would someone purchase a business with great reviews, press and reputation and then change the name?
That's either an un-wise business person or the story is not true. Either way I'm bummed. I loved that place.
If you haven't been to the festival or seen the videos, you just won't understand. This is not an issue of eating a certain type of animal, this is about publicly torturing animals and maximizing their suffering. This is unnecessarily cruel and just horrific

I too am absolutely appalled and disappointed by these allegations and have to take them very seriously as Asian Law Caucus, Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center, and Centro Legal de la Raza would only file a class action suit if the charged have credibility. I too will be boycotting Burma Superstar unless they are exonerated. Eating there would turn my stomach as we have labor laws for a reason as immigrants and non-English speakers are often the ones oppressed in these restaurants. I know Burma is making a LOT of $ which makes this case even more unfortunate and sad.
REALLY Walter M?! Withholding paychecks illegally from multiple employees sounds like a witchhunt to you? There is nothing funny about this. Employers who abuse minimum wage employees should be held accountable and fined to discourage this practice. It is simply unacceptable to take advantage of workers who are the lowest paid and often don't speak English well. I will certainly boycott Burma Superstar - it was my favorite restaurant! The food is fabulous - but not at the expense of abusing employees. Important for patrons to know this.
Sounds like a one-sided witch hunt. Looks like their lawyers are having a field day with this one. ha ha ha
No way I would ever want to be a restaurant owner in the San Francisco bay area with all these lawsuits. One of my favorite restaurants in SF, Beetlenut, closed down recently. I wonder if it was because of one of these kinds of lawsuits. I miss their food. :(
