Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

This clearly shows that we should not vote for Peggy Moore!

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

I filled out the "poll" as well and never got a follow-up message.

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

I guess the Mayor wants a rubber stamp (Moore) and not someone on the council that actually fights for tenants rights (Measure JJ) , environmental justice (No Coal Trains in Oakland) or a police Commision accountable to the citizens. Vote Kaplan

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

The bigger question here are the ethics of EMC. EMC generally does legitimate polling for groups or candidate interested in how voters perceive candidates and issues. My wife received this email poll, and it was clearly an attempt to advocate for Moore. The poll never disclosed who was behind it, but it was quite clear that it was put out to support Moore. Time for EMC to step up and provide full disclosure with their polls. Otherwise, any results they produce should be viewed with great skepticism.

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

I participated in that poll! Last week. It didn't seem very "partial" to me at the time. It felt skewed toward Peggy Moore the more I think about it. No pun intended. I received no "follow-up" either.

Re: “Oakland Police Union Writes $1,400 Check to Unseat Councilmember Noel Gallo

She was asked at the Democratic Forum Thursday and she kind've seemed to support it but now that I think about it, did not actually say that. Also said she wasn't supporting Measure JJ, renters' protections.

Re: “Yelp and the Business of Extortion 2.0

what is really crazy is that this post comes from 2009, that's 7 years and YELP just keeps on moving. Very SAD for the business community

Re: “Oakland Police Union Writes $1,400 Check to Unseat Councilmember Noel Gallo

Great idea! I would like to know her position, as well.

Re: “Oakland Police Union Writes $1,400 Check to Unseat Councilmember Noel Gallo

How about reaching Gonzalez and asking her position on the ballot measure?

Re: “Portal Owner Goes Pizza with Philomena in East Oakland

"yet undeveloped restaurant neighborhoods" Pretty soon that area will be so "developed" no resident who lives there now will be able to afford to eat at this pizza or (inevitable) brunch place. This is how an "affordable" (read: "less affluent") neighborhood gets colonized by white gentrifiers and turned into the next Temescal. Another restaurant for high-so's making inroads.

Re: “Cooking Other People's Food: How Chefs Appropriate Bay Area 'Ethnic' Cuisine

This is the new Oakland. They (always white, always with might) have the money and the power and the "in." Uber is leading the way. Within 5 years West Oakland will probably have a Whole Foods, wiping out local community farmers markets and these hipster high-so restaurants with their fake rustic/poverty porn ovens and grills will be everywhere. There is just no end to this parade of slick, well-heeled, heavily financed celebrity chef wannabes and their Moet swilling tech millionaire followers. When's this sh*t going to end? Looks like they've just begun.

It's fantastic to see such a useful post. I also can be helpful here :) Maybe you would be interested in an online service with a ton of Form templates (tax, real estate, legal, business, insurance forms, etc..) I used it to fill out http://goo.gl/PUaMtq

Monies going into the "general" fund and who is going to oversee this? Just as the monies from "parking tickets go into its OWN fund. Transparency show us the records!

Re: “Oakland-Alameda Authority Confirms Unreleased Renderings of Possible Raiders Stadium at Coliseum Site

Ryan Oakland is not broke and Vegas certainly is not a better city for the Raiders. The Oakland East Bay is a far wealthier region that Las Vegas. I strongly encourage you to get off of the strip and look around. The schools rank second to lowest in the nation and twenty-five percent of the homes are underwater. I do not want to bore you with further economic comparisons between the the two region but just be aware that In reality Vegas is an isolated mono economy solely dependent upon the Casino industry while the Oakland East Bay is a dynamic diversified economy that is doing just fine.

The french had the EXACT same problem in the 1800's They built guillotines and rounded up their 1% and beheaded them. Fun fact.

Re: “Queer Porn Revolutionist: Courtney Trouble

The unfortunate truth about Trouble is their troubled reputation with the QPOC community. You can't call someone "too dark" for porn and think you can get away with it. We know your ignorance.

Re: “Guacamole 61 Brings the Meat to Epicurious Garden in Berkeley

What is interesting here is that this will be the FIFTH restaurant to open in this space in a relatively short span of time, and the SECOND MEXICAN SPOT. What does this tell you? That this food court has better offerings that are driving all the traffic there. Kirala, Soop, a gelato place, and a Chinese restaurant/tea spot. Nothing so far can last against that competition, and I can tell you that YET ANOTHER Mexican spot, no matter how good, doesn't stand a chance. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in town, and apparently, there is little need for one in the Gourmet Ghetto. I give this place 6-12 months, TOPS.
