Re: “Keep Mutating

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for noting my miscalculation about 38 years. On the "first Bay Area punk record" point, I should have clarified it and wrote "first Bay Area punk album." I wrote "arguably," because Psychotic Pineapple's album is earlier, though perhaps not "punk."

Re: “California Does Not Have A Medical Marijuana Recommendation Problem

You can't tell just looking at someone whether or not they have health issues.

I have neuropathy in my feet (due to back/disc problems) and can walk only because I take high doses of oxy. I would be in a wheelchair except that it would make my back problem worse. I use MM because it helps me reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals I require.

Don't be so quick to judge that guy standing at the counter...

Re: “California Does Not Have A Medical Marijuana Recommendation Problem

Lets fight for "or any other condition for which marijuana provides relief", the final nine words in the qualifiying conditions which most enforcers choose to ignore. Giving the appropriate attention to those words in the law would open up cannabis use to a more appropriate universal application. It's safer and in many cases more effective than many of the "factory drugs" it would replace.

All the artists are newcomers. Worth watching the thriller. The music is especially pleasing

Re: “Gambling with Children

This is not intended to be a criticism of Ms. Olguin, more a matter of journalistic completeness. There is information missing from the article that would be of interest to me:
Was Ms. Olguin a Kaiser menber?
Did Ms. Olguin carry medical insurance at all?

Re: “A Flawed Model for Care

I'm not a Medical Professional, however, It sounds like Paroutaud was suffering some kind of medical ailment: Lyme, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and other Spirochetes are likely candidates for this type of behavior so late in life.
Note that Marin County has lyme: http://baynature.org/articles/bay-area-has…
The diagnosis of "Bi-Polar" disorder is a lazy idiots shortcut to thinking: BiPolar disorder is almost always presents with symptoms before age 25, and is hereditary, along with Schizophrenia: See DISC1, 2 Gene.
Note that other ailments can cause behavior such as this: Heavy Metal poisoning, malfunctioning thyroid etc. I imagine Kaiser is staffing only the best in cookie-cutter, McDonald's generic mental health treatment. S
eriously, they probably passed him onto mental health vendor to keep their metrics up. Shameful, and primitive.

Re: “Gambling with Children

While this article raises many serious and valid issues, it is disappointing and sad to see the CNA (I can't blame the article's author for being uneducated in the field of medicine) resort to so many outright lies, selective memory and such a remedial understanding of medicine in their attempt to prostitute this tragic story for their upcoming contract renegotiation. The ends don't always justify the means. Shame on the CNA!

Re: “Broken Promises of Oakland Foods Co

Sounds like the store is not very prosperous. Unionization will not save a failing store, only raise the prices. There is a reason that part of town has lacked good stores over the decades.

Re: “Alarming Radiation Levels Found on Treasure Island

Crazy; I lived on TI from about 1970 to 1974. I look back and remember it as one of the greatest places to be as a little kid. It was so secure; we were safe and had roam of the island...which we did (including wandering through the abandoned buildings, walking across the old fountain that remained from The World's Fair and venturing to YBI). Sad to hear.

Re: “Keep Mutating

It's stated that he joined Chrome "more than forty years ago." Yet if he joined after 1976's "The Visitation," that was 38 years back.
Also, it's claimed that the DKs' debut LP of 1980 was "arguably the first Bay Area punk record." This ignores and slights the 1976 single by Crime, the 1977 EP by The Avengers, the 1978 EP by The Readymades, etc.
