Re: “Anula's Cafe

I moved from my office at the 14th & Franklin corner in downtown Oakland and I miss Anula's Cafe. Anula is from Sri Lanka and makes meat and vegetarian dishes in her home style. There are different specials each day, along with great sandwiches, coffee and Sri Lanka style chai. I drop by to see say "hi" and get something whenever I am in the neighborhood.

Re: “The Port Bar

The Port Bar is great. It's the only straight-friendly gay bar in Oakland that's open 7 days a week. They have good drinks, hot bartenders, DJs spinning music, and go-go boys and girls. On Sunday evenings there's #Blessed Cabaret with hostess Carnie Asada. #Blessed Cabaret isn't just a drag show. Each week there are different live performances by performers who sing, rap and tell jokes. It's fun!

Re: “The Back Room

Great intimate venue with a hip big city vibe and great sound system - almost went 4 stars for lack of drinks, but actually that makes it even cooler - bring exactly whatever you want to drink! Pro tip: bring a small cooler and consider offering the band a drink!

Re: “El Huarache Azteca

Family owned restaurant from Oakland who bring a unique taste of Mexico City Cuisine. This restaurant has stayed true to its ingredients and Mexican Recipes. Huitlacoche quesadillas and the green pozole are among my favorite dishes. Weekends are a must for their smoke lamb.

Re: “AMF Southshore Lanes

Hello My name is Joyce Bellot:
I was at your Bowling Alley 1/27/17 where I hosted a party for my daughter and friends. The party was for some people with unique mental, physical, and emotional challenges. The total group was 15 people , they had a wonderful time! Your Host Monica K and Brady checked in frequently with me to see if everything was going well, and when there were problems they were right on hand to fix or resolve issues! So hats off to South Shore Lanes for helping me to provide such a fun memorable event for my daughter and friends! Your staff was very friendly and fun! I won"t hesitate
to use your facility again.

Sincerely

Joyce Bellot

Re: “Calavera

A great Uptown venue! The bar offerings, especially mezcal & tequila, are intruiging. And the food, based on their Oaxacan theme, is tasty and creative. Well worth a visit! Beautiful decor and superb food presentation. Wait staff is friendly and attentive.

Re: “The Missouri Lounge

Probably my favorite bar in the East Bay... Would be here all too often if I lived a little closer.

I love that people seem to hate their bartenders... Only had a problem once and it was an honest mistake.

Cheap, heavy pours and good food.

Re: “The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall

Honestly, they have the best sound I've heard at any venue in the Bay Area...

A truly beautiful room sonically and visually. The Fillmore of the East Bay with even more cutting edge sound and easier public transit access... Literally two blocks from Downtown Berkeley BART.

Staff is friendly and attentive. Even the food is good.

Re: “Modern Mouse

Providing an Exceptional Local Service for an Overseas Customer

Organising a gift for someone long-distance can be extremely difficult, especially when it needs to arrive on a specific day.

The team at Modern Mouse were able to do that for me without any hesitation. Although the online store had a comprehensive display of items on offer, they went above and beyond by emailing me additional gift suggestions specifically tailored to the occasion.

All of my queries were responded to promptly. After getting in contact, I was reassured that there would be no issue getting the gift sorted out for the date I needed it delivered. Usually when I order a product online, there is a feeling of uncertainty that issues happening throughout the ordering process may cause delays. Instead, I was able to call to discuss any concerns I had, and everything ran smoothly.

I was very satisfied with the smoothness of the delivery process, and the exceptional customer service I received both online and over the phone.

Thank you, Modern Mouse!

Re: “BRIX 581

Going to Brix on a Sunday morning for chicken fried steak has become as natural as getting coffee every morning. Now that they have added the bottomless mimosas I'm a happy camper.

Re: “Catahoula Coffee Company

Real award winning coffee, not just burned beans like Peets. More like McCallums on Solano many years ago when they sold ice cream and coffee. And also, real people, of all sorts, meeting, talking, working on wifi - a great place to hang out.
