I enjoy the variety of activities for any schedule. If you want to tone up, lose weight or just be healthy, this is the place to come. It's a little expensive, but there are scholarship programs, etc the can help defray the costs. The volunteers and staff are extremely friendly, very helpful, and eager to please. The YMCA Hilltop is the place to be!

I was impressed by what an excellent play/performance art this was. The cast members were all very engaging. The story is the Sumerian version of the classic Persephone myth but they made it fresh and compelling. Some of the interactive pieces worked and some fell flat; one based around writing & leaving personal memories inside the shrine of Inanna was very moving to me. I had zero expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. This company has a lot of talented people.
I rated this school at five stars because Professor Gitlin instilled in me a life-long love of martial arts.
Unfortunately, this school is CLOSED.
This is in error. The Garden is NOT open this evening.
you know what it do son. Monkey Shala Yoga
This is a great beautiful space were new comers are always welcome.
This is an amazing place. The respect and love that Mateo and Jim feel for the animals, plants, and land is palpable when you are in their presence. You are truly a lucky person if you get to meet these men or share in their bountiful harvest. Jim and Mateo you deserve the Best Urban Farm award! Congratulations!!!
Training in Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at BKMTC is the BEST!! Fantastic, talented, driven, and yet still patient instructors give you the best that you could hope for!
I love love love Berkeley Krav Maga! Fantastic combination of challenging training classes (cross training, kettlebell, combat cardio) along with self-defense classes and workshops. It's the best gym community I have ever experienced, and the results you get are INCREDIBLE for such a great time! I can't say enough great things about BKMTC!
The Morcom Rose Garden is Oakland's Crown Jewel. This beautifully restored public garden is an American Rose Society accredited garden due to the hard work of Oakland Park employee Tora and her staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. The Dead Headers have put in many, many hours of dead heading those rose plants and they can always use more help.
The Morcom is a city treasure that belongs to all of us. So get out there and enjoy the beauty it has to offer. What a great place for a leisurely stroll, to sit and visit, read a book, do some sketching and just soak in the fragrant scents of thousands of roses.
I thought it was wonderful and fun and sexy and outdoors and cheap. Go see it!!!

The group has successfully secured approval from the City of Berkeley to install a Community Peace Labyrinth at the Berkeley Marina. For more information, see http://eblp.bpfp.org
LAY OUT THE LABYRINTH! If you'd like to do more than simply attend the Solstice program and walk the labyrinth at June 21st event, note that from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that same day (Sunday, June 21), volunteers will be helping to lay out the pattern of temporary 11-circuit labyrinth (register in advance asap at eastbaylabyrinthproject@gmail.com if youd like to participate in this part of the days celebration; lunch provided; three-hour commitment).

Wonderful event. Well planned and great doubles tennis. I might even have learned something. Hats off to the organizers. Ken Fogarty
Re: “Morcom Rose Garden”
I hope I,m in the right place, or was. I lived on Piedmont Ave while attending CCAC (Now CCa), in Oakland, and my room-mate & I wandered off and found ourselves in this beautiful Garden of roses. We were looking for Mary B. Best's Ice cream 'hideaway'. We -being art students-were 'lost' for hours. What a wonderful way to lose the day. I believe we tried to find it several more times, only to be successful once. This was in 1978 or 1979, so perhaps we were sniffing too much 'rose dust'. I hope it was real, as this 'roasis' was just a few blocks from several major roadways. One our best college memories!
