Re: “Disco Volante

Lousy service - and they do not keep their committment to the musicians and pay them what was agreed upon in email.

I do not recommend this place as I said, the owner Damon was rude - demanded I give up the table I had been holding waiting for a friends to join me for dinner - no sooner did I give up the table when my friends came in. Because I had one of my artists performing their that night and had asked several people to come out to support I could not very well leave - we wound up standing in the back eating dinner standing up at the end of the bar - when I had sufficient seating for us - just 5 mins before their arrival! I had promoted telling my friends to come out and support this new business! DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!

Damon agreed to a $10 cover for the bands I booked - and refused to charge more than $5 - I understand venues are hurting - but when you agree to something you must keep your word - I even reached a compromise and communicated with the musicians - they still did not honor their word on the compromise - he was insulting to me - insulting to the musicians - and I strongly advise not going here - the only redeemable thing about this place are the corn nuts!

Re: “Heart and Dagger Saloon

Great neighborhood bar with the East Bay's best patio. Good selection of booze for great prices and the jukebox rocks!

Re: “Cole Coffee

If you like the kind of coffee that puts hair on your chest and is missing that burnt-been-sitting-here-for-hours taste, then look no more. No matter if you buy the beans or come in for a cup, Cole consistently has the best coffee in town. This is not the weakstuff in which you can see the bottom of your cup. This is colon exercising brew that tastes delicious!

Re: “The Layover

Fresh, authentic diversity. Best DJs on the West Coast. Friendly, all-ages community. Scrumptious eats on the premises. Laid-back, conscious, sexy crowd.

Re: “Albatross Pub

They have 6, yes 6 dartboards. You got a problem with six?

Re: “Rosenblum Cellars

I second the previous reviewer. It was a great place, even a five star place. Staff was great, it was always great to drop by.
Now you get a meager 4 tastings for the money. If they have wine on sale, that does not mean it is for taste (what sense does that make?), no deviation from the tastting menu anymore. Most wine got mediocre. I am no longer a member and won't buy there anymore.

Re: “The Bistro

the best pub for micro brews and IPA'S add the fact they have live music every night with no cover charge and you have a great place for nights out or just to drop by for a beer

Re: “McGrath's Pub

WE LIVE IN ALAMEDA AND WE'VE ENJOYED MUSIC AT McGRATH'S SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NOW THEY SAY "NO MORE MUSIC EVER AGAIN" DUE TO "DIFFICULTIES WITH THE CITY". THE TIMES WE HAVE GONE THERE IT WAS VERY LAID-BACK, NOT LOUD ENOUGH TO DISTURB NEIGHBORS, A BIT OLDER MELLOW CROWD, THE KIND OF PLACE I WOULD THINK THE CITY WOULD WELCOME INSTEAD OF SQUEEZING IT OUT. THANKS A LOT, ALAMEDA

Re: “Mezzanine

Absolutely <3 Mezzanine!
Seen the best shows there. Perfect size, you can get close to the stage if you want or just chill in the VIP.
Great staff and always a blast.
One of, if not THE, best mid sized concert venue in SF.

Re: “Beer Revolution

One of my top favorite bars in the Oakland East Bay! This beer-only pub serves as a "Toys-R-Us" for the avid beer drinker. You'll be mesmerize by the endless options of the rare & delicious varieties of beer on tap or from one of their many refrigerators. The kicker is if you happen to select one of the yummy beers from the fridge and take it to the counter to pay- you get asked if you want to drink it there or "to go"! Yes folks- you can take one of these delicious flavored beers or ciders with you when you leave to enjoy at home! A great spot for good quality brews! Sorry- NO bud, pbr, miller or anything of that nature. But their raspberry beer, chocolate stout, & barley wine is to die for! Come make a new friend enjoy your lunch on a sunny weekend on their patio and watch for their occasional outdoor BBQs, beer tastings, and art shows!

Re: “The Avenue

One of the best bars in Oakland. Staffed with friendly bartenders and an eclectic mix of patrons: punk, indie, metal, hip-hop, etc...
Always a warm welcome and an overall "Cheers" feel to the place. Watch out for their weekend DJ nights that turn into a total impromptu party!

Re: “Well Grounded Tea & Coffee Bar

Great place -- very convenient for El Cerrito folks, very friendly owners, good Semifreddi's pastry selection. Good lunch options too, bagel sandwiches and spanish-stype "bocadillo" sandwiches. Nice outdoor seating in good weather, very kid-friendly, and a nice gift shop is right next door for browsing.

Re: “Au Coquelet

Good food, good beverage selection, nice place to study or meet friends for a chat or game. Lots of groups meet here -- book clubs, discussion groups, language clubs, that sort of thing. And there are plenty of folks just reading a paper and having their coffee. Flexible hours are the best -- night owls will be happy.
Only reason for not giving it 5 stars: The bathrooms are a little janky, and if you have an infant with you there's no great option for changing diapers (no counter or diaper table, not enough floor space).

Re: “Acme Bar

My favorite bar. It's more like a neighborhood tavern than a dive. Its got an amazing selection of liquor. Tons of whiskey in all price ranges. Great beer both draft and bottled. And I can't leave out the booze on tap! Seriously Jameson, Fernet Branca and Evan Willians on tap! Amazing! The bartenders are super cool and very knowledgable. They always teach me about the whiskeys and even give a small taste of ones I'm not familiar with. All in all it's one great bar.

Re: “Rosenblum Cellars

In the past, I would've given Rosenblum 4 stars. However, they were sold about 2 years ago to a large Napa owned company & the wines haven't been the same since! My friends & I have been coming to Rosenblum for over 7 years. We watched the open house Parties go from medium to overcrowded in 4 years (before sale). Once the new owners took over, the Open House events went up by about $10, most of the wines are bitter & very dry (even reds) & there's less food served. We went from buying cases@these events to buying a couple of bottles. That says a lot for the 30-early 40 crowd!
