Re: “Modern Coffee

A coffee shop with soul and community. Definitely worth going out of your way to enjoy a truly amazing coffee (and tea) experience. Those who live/work nearby are lucky to be able to make this their daily stop. Kudos to Kristen and her partner Tina Nemling!

Re: “White Horse Inn

The place is so depressing it makes a funeral seem like a birthday party. Anyone that knows the place from the past would agree. Get with it guys!

Re: “Room 389

Re: “Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon

It's a patio where you can relax and the sun won't disappear prematurely.

Re: “Heart & Dagger Saloon

The H&D is a great spot to go on a date, kick back with your friends, or meet the nice "regulars." There's a variety of drink options and special events like Craft Beer Sunday and a new Spa afternoon where ladies can relax with a couple drinks in hand. And, it's all served up by a great staff who serve you quickly and make you feel welcome to "hang out."

Re: “Make Westing

Obviously. There's no place that's consistently better (or busier). The sandwiches are incredible, the cocktails always solid and everything is beyond reasonably priced. The outdoor patio is now a local hangout for a cross section of Oakland natives. Best bar by far.

Re: “Drake's Brewery and Barrel House

Hard to beat good beer on the patio on a nice warm day.

Re: “White Horse Inn

The oldest in the Bay Area still has it. Pool, Burlesque, events and beer busts. Still numero uno in my book.

Re: “Era Art Bar and Lounge

Love their cocktails - high end and tons of whiskey and bourbon choices.

Re: “The Prizefighter

Laid back, outside and inside seating - you can go here all dolled up for dinner (it's swanky inside) or in your jeans with the dog to sit outside. It's the perfect blend, all while being just far enough away to make it not too hard to nestle up to that bar for another smooth cocktail.

Re: “Sweet Adeline Bakeshop

Delicious and in a perfect spot to keep it just busy enough and not too busy so I can always get my fix. Their almond morning bread is mouth watering.
