Opening night is January 2 (not January 9), folks!
Yes I love this Solstice Celebration! I will be there.
Current Show "A little Princess" is a fabulous production with some broadway talent and great staging. Despite the name, this classic story has much wider appeal than just little girls. Its about bravery in the face of adversity, and a love of adventure even when surrounding by pressure to be conventional. If you loved RENT you are in for a treat -- one of the leads here won the TONY in 1996 for Angel in Rent. while all the adult leads and child leads are professional level here, his voice has a tone that transports you and echoes in the theater. Great fun evening -- runs through Dec 8th.
This concert is on Saturday the 23rd, not Friday!
Can't wait for the event!
This restrospective exhibition showcases photographs of farm workers taken by Ernest Lowe 50 years ago in California's Central and Salinas Valleys. The focus of the show is on children and families. 50 years ago Lowe photographed many children working in the fields, some as young as 4 years old. In researching the situation today, Lowe found little has changed-- young children are still being exploited by corporate agribusiness. See www.ernestlowe.com for more information and a preview of the show itself. The show's opening is tonight, with wine, appetizers, and a talk by Lowe, and the show runs through the the end of the year.
This sounds amazing! I can't make it that weekend, though...but looking forward to next year! Where is it exactly?

Although I only made it to half of the show, this was an amazing experience. The band was very skilled and in tune with each other, and provided a great atmosphere. I attended the concert to get content for a school paper, and I took notes for the majority of the performance; this did not alter the fact that I still noticed it was a wonderful show, the crowd was deeply into the music, and it was easy to get into the vibe and be a part of it all.
Correction: show dates are June 8th at 8 pm, June 9th at 7 pm.
Curtis Bumpy rocked Earth, Wind and Fire! the band is awesome! hope to have the opportunity to see them again soon at a venue where dancing is possible. Great band playing the music we were listening to in Berkeley in the 70s and 80s as well as other stuff. Quality muscians.

The matinee performances will be followed by an audience discussion with Piper and representatives from local violence prevention programs. These may be some of the most vital conversations the Oakland community will have about violence in our city, precisely because of the presence and voices of elders and young adults in the house.
For mature audiences only! Minimum recommended age 14 due to strong language and honest content.
Art Beat Writers' Society has moved! Join us every Monday night from 7PM to 9:30 PM @ 2434 Telegraph Ave, Oakland!

The performance will be followed by a wine and cheese reception. There’s no better way to warm up on a wintry Sunday afternoon!
