Are you kidding Bob Enos Soundwave is amazing. The acoustics are great and they are all musicians who just love to play.
This party is now located at The Night Light. Same great DJs and all the good people you are used to.
Amazeballs. Great music. Good times.
Please check the website for schedule. We do not play every Saturday. Thank you, Sheri
fyi we have different guests every month...this is the link for this months party June 9th http://www.facebook.com/events/32052954469… Residents Eric Groove, Kincaid, and DjCPJ rotate with special guests. This needs to be updated.
I went last week for "Metal Night" to check it out, and the attitude in there was shit. The sleazehole checking ID said "I can tell you're legal, why don't you just come in before handing me your ID?" (I would have, but his fat ass was blocking the doorway) There was no metal playing, just some Tears for Fears, and the energy was reeking of a bunch of washed up lowlifes. As I walked out, the same douche made a last attempt to keep us by warning us the last call was @ 1:30...
If you're in the area, don't bother going here, go instead to Beer Revolution or Vitus. Or just head out to Eli's Mile High, a great example of a neighborhood dive bar with people who are gritty but amiable and just want to help you have a good time.
This event is the SECOND Saturday of the month, as of April 2011. Not the first.
Soundwave is a great band! The BBQ dinner was fantastic! There was no cover charge which is amazing. All the players in the band were experts at their craft. Not much room to dance but everyone is having such a great time, the atmosphere can't be beat. If you like big band music, you have to go.
We adore Sinead, in fact just got back from hearing her sing/play. She's so talented and her voice is awesome. We love her. Petar's is a little bit funky but we go listen to her play about once a month.
Don't go here! Aweful. Who likes 19 piece big bands with no cover charge? Ewww and those aweful $3.00 PBRs? Just to make sure its so bad, I've been going every week for 2 months now, and this band can't even play the same song twice! Pathetic.
This is one of the best happy hours I have been to in the Bay Area. A lot of good people there just ready to celebrate the weekend with lots off good music from a local cat DJ Odiaka who throws it down. Its says its a happy hour but last till 10-11pm. If you are in Oakland on the last friday you should for sure make it out to this and bring your friends.
Wouldn't miss Tuesday evenings hearing Sinead sing. Beautiful voice, you won't be disappointed, she's contagious
This is a welcoming Irish music session, that often boasts between 10 and 20 musicians (on a good night) playing fiddles, flutes, whistles, banjos, mandolins and other instruments. Shay Black hosts the session weekly and invites selected people to sing during the evening. A sliding scale applies, which usually means buying the band a drink ($3 - $5) when the "woolly hat" comes around. "Quiet" (meaning listen) when people sing is an Irish expectation, and is expected here too, but there is lots of time to laugh, socialize, drink and have fun when the session tunes are being played.
El ¡Superritmo! features Roger Más ( http://www.myspace.com/roger_mas ) and Kool Kyle ( http://www.myspace.com/koolkyle) Saturdays at the Make-Out Room starting @ 10PM.
Los Cenzontles (the mockingbirds) played the early set @ Make-Out about a year and a half ago and they ROCKED the set...you can ask Linda Ronstadt, she was in the house.
Keni el Lebrijano is one of the very few Flamenco guitarists anywhere today who plays with 100% authenticity and evocks the power and emotional impact of the old school of traditional Flamenco. He is a true living treasure and it is worth extraordinary efforts to go hear him play. If you appreciate real music then you owe it to yourself to experience Keni el Lebrijano's wonderful Flamenco.
Karaoke Sundays is the shit! It's the ultimate party in Berkeley!
