Jack's Antiques
In 1946, after the war, Jack Mitts decided to establish his own antique business in Berkeley, California, leaving his family's antique business behind in St. Louis. Jack, along with his wife Shirley, purchased property on the corner of Adeline and Ashby and hung up a sign proclaiming "Jack's Antiques" was open for business. Over the many years since, "Jack's" has become a destination for collectors seeking quality American Decorative and Fine Arts. Still in the same location today, Shirley and her daughter Nancy carry on that fine tradition. Jacks's is the "go to" place for both buying and selling estates and single items. Jack's specializes in the buying and selling of quality furnishings, fine art, porcelain, silver but carries an eclectic assortment of many items like French armoires, Chinese furnishings, and English antiques. You never know what you will find at Jack's! We have had fun and interesting items such as model wooden sailing ships, painted wooden fish from Mexico, wood carved Italian and Chinese mirrors, rattan furniture from the Victorian Era, early Grandfather clocks, California paintings, and early wrought iron implements. Visit our store and explore the collection! View Profile

Dru Anderson Fine Arts
I use a variety of mediums in her art: oil, pastel, watercolor, etc. My work revolves around people in my life and my dreams which I believe are metaphors of life." All of my artwork begins with a dream; dreams that must be brought to life! To paint, draw or create in some manner is as much a part of me as my heartbeat. To survive I must generate work every single day, all of the time. If my hands are not creating, my mind is. Awake or asleep my creative process never ceases; it is consistent, lucid, vibrant, alive, ever searching for a way out. In an ever changing universe, and a diaspora type lifestyle; this remains my constant. View Profile

Pivot Art Gallery
Pivot Art Gallery is an independent online project curated by Peter Hayes with the goal of providing engaging art and arts information to the community of the San Francisco bay area and beyond. Since 2009 the gallery has regularly exhibited work from a wide variety of artists including: photographers, illustrators, sound artists, painters, video artists, sculptors, interactive internet artists and more! Through the website and blog, the gallery shares in conversations with art creators, viewers, collectors, and the greater community. We aim to provide inspiration for all to become more involved in the visual arts. This project is constantly evolving and should be considered a work in progress. What is emerging aesthetics? We define it as a sense of art viewed through various media, avenues of expression, and the intersection of these that reveals a unique contemporary arts perspective. This unique viewpoint enables the gallery to show a range of engaging work and participate in the contemporary art conversation. If you have any questions about the art, artists, or placing an order, don't hesitate to contact us. We welcome all comments and questions. If you are interested in collaborating or submitting a portfolio for consideration as a Featured Artist, please send the following information: link to site/portfolio | bio | artist statement | any other relevant info | your questions Note that edgy, conceptual, and otherwise challenging work is encouraged. Although a practicing artist for thirty years, it’s only in the past few that I resumed exhibiting. For many years I was a facilitator of other artists’ careers, as the Executive Director or curator of community art centers. This work deeply involved me in presenting art to the public, and negotiating the interaction of the individual artist with a widely diverse audience. While I continued to paint, I did not seek exhibition opportunities because (whether actual or perceived) ethical issues might have arisen. I remain involved in community activities in Berkeley, serving on the Civic Arts Commission and on the curatorial committee of the Richmond Art Center. A “plein air” painter for well over 20 years, I have recently begun to draw again. The new work began during an artist’s residency in New Zealand, where I continued to respond to the landscape and natural forms, using scratchboard as my medium. This exploration led to a series of illustrations for, Matilda Robbins: Immigrant, Wobbly, Feminist, my grandmother’s unpublished memoir, written in the late 1950s about her life in the years 1900-1926. While I continue to paint, this work has currently been my major focus, and unlike my practice with painting, I have used old family photographs and published images to develop the drawings. In this case the camera helps. I find images of buildings, costumes and transportation that I use to create composites that suggest the story Matilda tells. I attended Reed College in Portland Oregon; hold a B.A. in English Literature from U.C. Berkeley, and studied painting and printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute. My work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, in Europe, Central America and New Zealand and is in public and private collections in Washington D.C.; New York City; Los Angeles, California; Taos, New Mexico; Masterton, New Zealand; Managua, Nicaragua; and Torino, Italy. Studio 1509
My work and aesthetic derive in large part from my heritage — North African — and my formative cultural experience growing up in Italy. I start my prints by traveling into history, memory and imagination. I am interested in patterns and boundaries, both physical and cultural. What happens when you get near? What crosses over, what is connected and what is repeated? I hope to reflect transitions and overlapping experiences that give form to the contemporary world and shape our experiences. I use a variety of printmaking methods to connect and assimilate a progression of ideas. I use visceral properties of paint and the power of color to convey the drama of emotions. As the layers change and become more complex, history and memory become part of the conversation. The visual language is primordial, melodic, baroque and industrial. Van Gogh My Pet
Artist Jennifer Heller lives in Oakland with her muse, the Guster. Jennifer brings to Van Gogh My Pet a lifetime of appreciation for color, art and animals. One day, she realized that she–like any pet owner truly in love with their pet–needed to honor her best friend, the Guster, with a pet portrait painting. On that day, Van Gogh My Pet was born. Jennifer and the Guster (pictured here) enjoy long mornings laying in bed, tech magazines and sharing a fresh crab from time to time. Learn more about the Guster, visit the pet portrait gallery, and learn how Jennifer creates her lively and colorful pet portrait paintings. Van Gogh My Pet is not a one woman show. Professional photographer Betty Rose photographs each portrait and all reproductions are made by the LightRoom fine art printing. Jennifer is an avid supporter of non-profits and community (and pet!) interest group. She is happy to donate pet portraits to raise money for a good cause. Contact her for more information.
