This bright, boldly painted restaurant sits right across from the bay with stunning views of the water. Enjoy the quiet beach across the street late Sunday afternoon with the kids, and then head to Picante Playa for an early dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant's excellent kids' menu doubles as a coloring sheet to keep the little ones busy while they wait for their food. (The restaurant offers small glasses filled with crayons to anyone who asks for them.) The kids' menu features grilled flour and corn quesadillas, and chicken or steak taco plates that come with rice and beans. For picky eaters, there are three different varieties of beans to choose from; refried, pinto, or black. A kid's plato is served with grilled chicken or steak, handmade tortillas, rice, and beans and is $3.25. Nothing on the kids' menu is more than $3.45 and servings are substantial. Kids also love the freshly made delicious aguas frescas in guava, orange, watermelon, papaya, mango, and pineapple flavors. If kids find it hard to stay seated, they can always head over to the stand by the side of the kitchen and watch while a woman cranks out handmade organic corn tortillas and cooks them behind a large glass window.
