The atmosphere is more egghead than meathead at the Albatross, where no one will blink an eye when patrons simultaneously crack open a beer while cracking a book. Laptops and course readers are not uncommon weeknight sights here. Which is not to say that the Albatross is nothing more than study hall with a tap. There's a wide selection of drinks, a dart room, and a den-like back room, as well as more brainy distractions such as chess, Scrabble, and a well-attended trivia night. Some of this, and the slightly older crowd, might make it a little dowdy for undergraduate tastes, but for studious types who need an excuse to get out more often, the Albatross is a good place to blur the line between working hard and playing hard. Whether you need to chase a few hundred pages of postmodern gobbledygook with a shot of something more traditional, or wish to celebrate the completion of your orals with some much-needed oral refreshment, the Albatross has a corner for you.
