.11:00 a.m. Wed.-Sun.: Best Place to Delight the Tots

Pixieland Amusement Park

You can’t bring the kiddies in a kayak. At the same time, you don’t want to spend Disneyland or even Great America prices to placate the little ones, who don’t even meet the height requirements for the best rides in any case. You don’t have to. Head over to Concord’s Willow Pass Community Park after breakfast and visit Pixieland, an amusement park aimed at tots and tykes. For the mellow wee ones there’s the famous Pixieland Train — the oldest ride in the forty-year-old park, which circles the facility at a sensible speed — or the horse carousel. Kids taller than three feet can tackle the Tea Cups, Dragon Fly Roller Coaster, and the all-new Frog Jumper. Parking and admission are free, but the rides cost money: $1.25 for one ticket, $11 for a book of ten tickets, or $14 for unlimited rides all day long. Online coupons are available at the Pixieland Web site. In May and June, Pixieland is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but the park is open daily for the rest of the summer.
