11:00 a.m. Sunday: Best On-Premise Selection of Beer in the Bay Area

The Warehouse Cafe and Bar

It's Sunday afternoon and the sun is shining. It's time to hop on the Harley and ride out to Port Costa, just this side of the Carquinez Strait, where you can park your butt in the Warehouse garden, have a few beers, and watch the Sacramento River flow out to the bay. A few beers? What we meant to suggest was you could sample about four hundred different brewskis while dining on great hunks of meat hot off the Warehouse's famous Sunday barbecue starting at 11:00 a.m., rain or shine. If you don't like barbecue, try the Maine lobster, king crab, shrimp scampi, or anything else on their ever-changing menu of classic American hearty meals. Donna, the bartender, claims the food is so good you'll have to be carried out on a stretcher. The band starts playing at noon and the beers, well: no one serves more brews than the Warehouse -- everything from Hair of the Dog's Adamsbier to Bamberger's Rauchbier. If you ask real nice, Donna might let you in back to see the Warehouse beer cooler. Some claim it's a holy shrine.
