* Yusuf Bey born as Joseph Stevens in Greenville, Texas on December 21, 1935.

* Gets cosmetology degree and runs beauty shops in Santa Barbara and Berkeley.

1964
* Begins following Elijah Muhammad of the Nation of Islam.

1971
* Opens Your Bakery in Santa Barbara.

1970s
* Moves bakery, now known as Your Black Muslim Bakery, to the East Bay.

1991
* Abaz Bey gets in fight with Richmond cops, goes to jail.

1994
* Abaz Bey, Nedir Bey, Larry Chin, and Basheer Muhammad arrested in March for alleged torture. Confrontation with police.

* Yusuf Bey runs for Oakland mayor, makes derogatory comments about homosexuals and Jews.

* Akbar Bey shot and killed in September outside the Omni club in North Oakland.

* Abaz Bey, Nedir Bey, Larry Chin, and Basheer Muhammad plead no contest to false imprisonment on December 23.

1995
* Sentences range from two days in jail to eight months of home detention, plus probation.

1997
* Basheer Muhammad and three other men allegedly beat Allen Tucker unconscious.

2000
* False-imprisonment felonies of Nedir and Abaz Bey reduced to misdemeanors.

2002
* Nedir Bey's estranged lover gets restraining order against him.

* Yusuf Bey arrested for allegedly committing lewd act with a minor.
