Re: “Giovanni Restaurant

I’m really happy Giovanni’s has reopened again….new menu, fresh homemade pasta and keeping the best parts of the past, the pizza and foccacia bread. The service is warm and friendly, the decor has been up dated but it’s not a total make over. I still feel at home.

Re: “Iron Horse Nutrition

Iron Horse Nutrition is the Tri-Valley's best place to shop for sports and nutritional supplements. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff, and are the only supplement store in the area to have a certified nutritionist on staff. They also offer four new tanning beds that clean, convenient and competitively priced.

Ate here last night. Food was wonderful. Had the Ahi appetizer and the polenta cakes and the fish stew. All were outstanding. Also topped it off with a great chocolate chip bread pudding.

Pricing was very reasonable. We'll be back.

Re: “Picante

We LOVE this place. The food is fresh, and goes beyond the standard Mexican-American fare (though not by too much). The place is usually crowded, if not packed, even though it's huge. They also do take-out, and it's usually the first place we think of when we want to bring something home. It's also moderately priced. This has been our favorite restaurant for many years, and will probably stay that way for many years to come.

Re: “Al's Big Burger

This is your basic burger and fries joint, and they have good onion rings. Well-made and served hot, and inexpensive as well. I'd be careful about straying from their standard fare, though: one time I ordered a BLT and it was mediocre at best.

Re: “Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers

Pretty good hamburgers and fries. A bit pricey, though, for what you get. In the past Barney's was widely considered to be the best burger place around. I don't think they can claim that anymore, and I hope they try to regain that status.

I'm giving Betty 5 stars. You know why? Because they only make a couple things but every one of them is delicious and they don't F around one bit. You walk in, order and BOOM you are stuffing your face with something amazing involving chicken.

There is no place to sit inside. You wanna sit, you sit on a stool next to an ironing board on the sidewalk outside. I don't think they have a bathroom and I don't even know if they have a trashcan, BUT, they have AWESOME FRIED CHICKEN and that is why you go there! Get you some fried chicken. Fried chicken pieces of the chicken sandwich and have a cookie and a lemonade. Or get a take-n-bake chicken pot pie and go home and be amazed.

There's no sign. It's nothing fancy. But, it will make you happy and full.

Re: “Mezzanine

Absolutely <3 Mezzanine!
Seen the best shows there. Perfect size, you can get close to the stage if you want or just chill in the VIP.
Great staff and always a blast.
One of, if not THE, best mid sized concert venue in SF.

Re: “Beer Revolution

One of my top favorite bars in the Oakland East Bay! This beer-only pub serves as a "Toys-R-Us" for the avid beer drinker. You'll be mesmerize by the endless options of the rare & delicious varieties of beer on tap or from one of their many refrigerators. The kicker is if you happen to select one of the yummy beers from the fridge and take it to the counter to pay- you get asked if you want to drink it there or "to go"! Yes folks- you can take one of these delicious flavored beers or ciders with you when you leave to enjoy at home! A great spot for good quality brews! Sorry- NO bud, pbr, miller or anything of that nature. But their raspberry beer, chocolate stout, & barley wine is to die for! Come make a new friend enjoy your lunch on a sunny weekend on their patio and watch for their occasional outdoor BBQs, beer tastings, and art shows!

Re: “The Avenue

One of the best bars in Oakland. Staffed with friendly bartenders and an eclectic mix of patrons: punk, indie, metal, hip-hop, etc...
Always a warm welcome and an overall "Cheers" feel to the place. Watch out for their weekend DJ nights that turn into a total impromptu party!

Re: “The Uptown

This show will be off da hook!

Posted by rockolito on 11/19/2010 at 10:26 AM

Great flavors, service and prices! Order their platters with eye and taste appeal for large, informal gatherings like picnics or buffets, instead of overpriced, "gourmet" food. Just like the old country--i.e., Chicago, IL.

Re: “Paisan

We thought the food was heavy handed and really average to poor pizza. Ingredients are very fresh in the Bay Area and there's no reason to douse things in balsamic vinegar and oregano (like their farro salad). The staff did not know the wine list and was not attentive to things like filling water glasses. There are plenty of other places that have far better pizza and sides (Boot and Shoe, Marzano, Locanda da Eva to name a few) at basically the same prices. EBExpress review sounded good so we thought we would try Paisan, but we would not go back.
