Re: “Phat Matt's BBQ

Meat was bland and pretty flavorless. The brisket was not seasoned well at all and the chicken taste old...will not be going back :(

Re: “Acme Bar

My favorite bar. It's more like a neighborhood tavern than a dive. Its got an amazing selection of liquor. Tons of whiskey in all price ranges. Great beer both draft and bottled. And I can't leave out the booze on tap! Seriously Jameson, Fernet Branca and Evan Willians on tap! Amazing! The bartenders are super cool and very knowledgable. They always teach me about the whiskeys and even give a small taste of ones I'm not familiar with. All in all it's one great bar.

Re: “Mercury 20 Gallery

Such a great space! Big improvement over their Grand St. space, and the work continues to be some of the most interesting art at the Murmur. A must see venue.

Re: “Rosenblum Cellars

In the past, I would've given Rosenblum 4 stars. However, they were sold about 2 years ago to a large Napa owned company & the wines haven't been the same since! My friends & I have been coming to Rosenblum for over 7 years. We watched the open house Parties go from medium to overcrowded in 4 years (before sale). Once the new owners took over, the Open House events went up by about $10, most of the wines are bitter & very dry (even reds) & there's less food served. We went from buying cases@these events to buying a couple of bottles. That says a lot for the 30-early 40 crowd!

Re: “Dashe Cellars

First time i had this wine was @ Alamo Square Restaurant in SF 5 years ago. It was very good! 2 years ago, went tasting @ their location in Oakland & had a very good time! Their wines are very good & have surpassed Rosenblum in quality. I would highly recommend this local winery!

This has been gone for years, replaced by a "Mexican" place with multicolored "wraps" and whose chips are made from flour tortillas. It's called Talapas Taco Bar.

The current address for Living Hope Christian Center is 4550 San Pablo Ave, Emeryville. The Park Street address is a former address.

I stopped by their first show last Friday and was pleasantly surprised. The space is small but the layout is nice. Most importantly, the photographs were beautiful! Equally important, the spread was generous and they served champagne!

Re: “Dorsey's Locker

The most common way to experience the Deep South is to find a street magician and hope he pulls a shiny Louisiana state quarter from your ear. Dorsey"s Locker in Oakland presents another option when there are no illusionists handy, great soul food. Drawing on a family tradition that began with the first Dorsey-owned restaurant in 1941, the menu at Dorsey's features steaming platefuls of southern home cooking. Any day of the week, choose from a swimmy selection of seafood, including deep-fried or grilled catfish fillets and prawns. Or try robust helpings of fried chicken, liver and onions, and more. Dorsey's also offers a rotating daily menu; Friday's menu, for example, doles out helpings of smothered steak, chitterlings, barbecue ribs and chicken or links, and gumbo. Most entrees are served nicely neighbored by three sides of your choice. The comfortable, no-frills restaurant welcomes diners to a cozy space where the food speaks for itself. Full-service bar available.

Re: “Chop Bar

Best burger I ever had and the service is excellent. The restaurant is fairly new and can easily get packed because it's been really successful since they opened....my advice, go early, sit at the bar, converse with the owner (who's really nice too) and fill up on beer, wine and their awesome burger!

Re: “Cinnaholic

Just go here. Seriously. You can't possibly go wrong.

Except with the mint icing. That was a little weird. But hey, there's a billion flavors and toppings to choose from, so you really can't go wrong. Old skool rolls are my favorite anyway. I could eat a million of them. So just go here and keep this place open, because FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS OR ISN'T HOLY, Cinnaholic is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.

These rolls seriously ROCK.

Best cheese steak believe it or not! Their pizza is to die for too!

By far the BEST veggie burger I have ever had! Wine for under $4! I brought my fiance in after trying the burger at Homegrown and he was floored. The owner even came by to clear our table and talk to us about the reciepe. So good, I can't say enough wonderful things!

Re: “Chez Panisse

Been going here since the early '70s and it still THE dining experience in the East Bay. Others may burst brightly on the scene, but day in and day out this is still, after all these years, an established level of excellence that sets the standard for the rest. Always something new on the downstairs menu. Excellent wine list (a tad pricey), really good wait staff and a kitchen staff that is happy to give you a tour of the kitchen. Be sure to make your reservations a month in advance to avoid disappointment.
