Re: “Medical Marijuana Patients Wary of Booze Cops Regulating Pot

As a State Patient with a Valid Rec, State I.D. and State Caregiver Cards from the Health Department getting ready to go through my second Trial in Orange County California.. I say Regulate.. It is about time. With the current condition of the Laws the only ones prospering are the Cartels Cops D.A.'s and Judges while the True Patients and Caregivers are being Punished and Prosecuted. So please regulate this and allow us to pay our taxes and do business without fear of prosecution or being robbed or ripped off.. Prop215 and S.B.420 are currently failing the People!

Re: “Medical Marijuana Patients Wary of Booze Cops Regulating Pot

As it stands now, dispensaries are at a loss under the current law at the statewide level. Sure, liberal areas are embracing medical cannabis. But for those in more conservative areas, they're looking for regulations to allay concerns of illegal cartels using dispensaries as drug fronts.

Many patients say modest regulations are the answer -- after all, most patients have been to at least one shady store in their life. I lived in LA, most of the shops there sell ditch weed at overpriced rates. You also have a gut feeling that any information related to potency is more misinformation than truth.

Allowing businesses to operate like wineries (*ahem*, $100 statewide fee for a yearly winery license) would expand legitimate business activities, cut out the bad actors, and lower the legal threats from state and local governments. Where's the problem?

Great article...this really is the future of restaurant financing. Restaurant startups also should check out http://www.foodstart.com too - a crowd funding site just for restaurants and food trucks.

Re: “Medical Marijuana Patients Wary of Booze Cops Regulating Pot

don't let the government get their fat tainted hands on it. If they don't believe it is medicinal to begin with (they actually do, but the war on drugs has them stating otherwise) then who in the right mind would give them control over the plant? Don't give a cat killer a kitten; this is common sense! Yes, we need to treat it like valerian, st. johns wort, and any other herb. why? because that's what it is!

Re: “Medical Marijuana Patients Wary of Booze Cops Regulating Pot

The whole world watches while we pepper-spray, taser, and cudgel our own citizens for exercising their birth-right to assemble peacefully. The whole world watches while we strip-search and anally probe our own wheelchair-bound great grandmothers on suspicion of being terrorists. The whole world watches while heavily armed & masked government thugs break into our homes to ridicule, bully, threaten and murder us for using or growing a medically efficacious plant.

The prohibitionist model is one of blind ignorance, abject failure and economic collapse. Its underlying ideology is one of fear, envy, greed and hate.

* Do you wish to greatly reduce, even almost eliminate the market in illegal narcotics?

* Do you wish to bring about an enormous reduction in the presence and influence of organized crime?

* Do you wish to reduce harm to the existing users and addicts - who may be your children, brothers, sisters, parents or neighbors - by allowing them safe and controlled legal access, which will greatly minimize the possibility of 'peer-initiation' and sales to minors?

* Do you wish to see a reduction in the number of users or addicts, thus greatly curtailing drug related illness and deaths while also reducing societal harm from problematic abusers?

Legalize, regulate and tax!

Follow the guidelines of the Colorado Regulation Task Force Recommendations, The work is already complete, if you think for one minute these people were not being professional, you have a screw loose.

Re: “Medical Marijuana Patients Wary of Booze Cops Regulating Pot

This will make our medicine more expensive, lessor qaulity, attaches fees every step of the way, pay to play, if passed just big pot will benefits. Tom makes mention of keeping it out of the wrong hands, clearly it Tom whose in the wrong hands. Colorado is not the model, and their over regulations did not stop the feds.

Re: “Major Fuel and Emissions Savings from Autos Are Unlikely

There are good vehicles on the market right now. Toyota Prius C (NOT the regular Prius) averages 54mpg in the city, and I have seen mine reaching 99.9mpg at times. It is very reliable and one of the most affordable cars on the market. I do my driving at a fraction of the cost of a traditional vehicle, including the purchase cost of the car, fuel and maintenace.

Re: “Congrats to Washington's New Cannabis Consiglieri, UCLA Professor Mark Kleiman

If only Oakland's policy makers had been as thoughtful as Kleiman.

Thus the consequences of Oakland's pot program have been a larger criminal sector of the local economy; more people in handcuffs and behind bars; more drug abuse.

Often using your brain or consulting someone with a brain can be very useful.

Re: “Study Says Granting Amnesty to Illegal Immigrants Would Boost Economy

family came here when population was desired, not because they broke into a country that didnt want them to use and abuse the generous programs, immigrants should get the boot for breaking laws, God Bless America, not the Obama administration if theyre considering this amnesty garbage

Re: “Study Says Granting Amnesty to Illegal Immigrants Would Boost Economy

this is not a wise discussion, Im writing a paper for college that requires pros and cons so I looked this page up. Anyhow theres not an institution in Mexico with learning paralled to Americas junior colleges, maybe even high school. We are also in the middle of a recession because theres to many low wage workers and people who refuse to work, so introducing millions of new unskilled workers is good? Wrong, they commit crime our gangs wouldnt and they would weigh down on American government "oppurtunities" like welfare. Anyone in favor of amnesty is confused. Who ever said, "Americans are scared because immigrants are tough" Your an insult to a great country, Im not starving because I can afford to feed myself, not because Im weak you nut job.

Re: “Ken Estes' GDP Collective Reopens Amid the Richmond Dispensary Renaissance

Awesome, Ken has been a top notch advocate since the inception of the medical cannabis movement. His following has earned him respect.
He faced down the FEDS and will continue to deliver.
Ken deserves good press from the express to make up for what Chris Thompson did. I worked with Ken during those early days of Oaksterdam and enjoyed it immensely. He was instrumental in opening up the selection of Medicine straight from the Emerald Triangle.
He developed new strains from proven genetics that is true medication because he needs it personally.
Before Ken most of the medicine was grown in the Bay Area
The real deal from Humboldt and Mendocino sure changed attitudes.
Love you Ken and am very happy with the Richmond decision
