Drivers

The Express is looking for one or more drivers to deliver the paper each Wednesday. Drivers must be available every Wednesday starting at 9:30 a.m., have a van or covered truck, have insurance and a valid driver's license, be reliable and on time, speak good English, read the Express, and understand who our readers are well enough to help us find appropriate new delivery locations. If you are interested, please call Stephen Buel at 510-879-3708.

Editorial Reporting Internships

The East Bay Express accepts editorial reporting interns for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Interns will report and write stories of their own initiative, working about 20 hours per week at our Oakland office. Previous reporting experience is helpful, as is understanding the difference between magazine-style writing and the hurried fact-finding of daily papers. Interns don't do busywork, compile listings, go for coffee, or complete "research" for more experienced writers. Instead, they work with an experienced editor to learn the basics of long-form news and feature writing. Knowledge of the East Bay and foreign language skills are a plus. We strongly encourage women and minorities to apply. Internships are unpaid; students must be able to receive school credit.

Please send a cover letter, résumé, and at least five clips via e-mail to: Kathleen Richards, Managing Editor, Kathleen [dot] Richards [at] EastBayExpress [dot] com or East Bay Express, 620 3rd St., Oakland, CA, 94607.

DEADLINE FOR SPRING INTERNSHIP: November 15.
DEADLINE FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP: March 15.
DEADLINE FOR FALL INTERNSHIP: July 15.
