Alvarez' campaign paid Polka $40,000. Alvarez loses 51 percent to 49 percent.

Mike Machado (D) v. Gary Podesto (R)
November 2004, 5th Senate District, Central Valley.
The California Real Estate Independent Expenditure Committee paid Polka $30,000 and California Dental Association Independent Expenditure Committee paid her $20,000 to help Machado. Total for Polka: $50,000. Machado wins 52 percent to 48 percent.

Nicole Parra (D) v. Dean Gardner (R)
November 2004, 30th Assembly District, Central Valley.
Californians United paid Polka $36,886, California Dental Association Independent Expenditure Committee paid her $50,000, and California Agribusiness Independent Expenditure Committee paid her $10,000, all to help Parra. Total for Polka: $96,386. Parra wins 55 percent to 45 percent.

Bill McCammon (D) v. Mary Hayashi (D)
June 2006, 18th Assembly District, Alameda County.
McCammon paid her $31,717. Committee for a Better California, which was partially funded by Californians United, also spent $45,068 on hit pieces against Hayashi. McCammon loses 51 percent to 49 percent.

Frank Quintero (D) v. Paul Krekorian (D)
June 2006, 43rd Assembly District, Los Angeles County.
California Latino Leadership Fund paid her $49,800 to help Quintero, who loses 57.5 percent to 42.5 percent.

George Nakano (D) v. Jenny Oropeza (D)
June 2006, 28th Senate District, Los Angeles County.
California Real Estate Independent Expenditure Committee paid her $143,299 to help Nakano, who loses 53 percent to 47 percent.

Lou Correa (D) v. Tom Umberg (D)
June 2006, 34th Senate District, Orange County.
Californians United paid her $77,563. Correa wins 60 percent to 40 percent.
