Scene: Your living room (add various chaotic details as needed — toy piles, spilled juice, baby barf, melted crayons, etc.). Problem: What to do with a small wild child-animal for the morning or afternoon? Solution: Head over to Tumble and Tea. In the cozy, safe, cheerfully decorated space, you can grab a cup of coffee and a scone, sit in a grown-up-size chair, and watch your darling play. (Have you found your keys yet?) The brainchild of owners Georgina DeCarlo and Susan Older, the cafe offers parents and caregivers of children ages newborn to five a little R&R, and the kids a chance to get their little groove on. You pay a fee for access to the play area ($5.95 for the day, additional siblings $2, babies free), which also buys you any of the many activities Tumble and Tea hosts, including performances by Buki the Clown, sing-alongs, and story readings. Special classes like baby yoga, Music Together, and CPR are available for an extra charge. The cafe also does birthday party packages that include invitations, lunch, cake, decorations, favors, and thank-you cards. So next time you need a break, check this place out. If you’re lucky, your child will thank you.
