Antioch Regional Shoreline Pier

Striped bass is the catch here. The minimum size is eighteen inches, the season is all-year long, and the limit is two per day. Sitting under the majestic Antioch Bridge, which connects with the Delta, the thrumming of trucks on the bridge is actually pleasant. Across the river, the wind turbines of Solano County shine and turn. Oceangoing freighters pass close by. The well-maintained pier puts you out on the water. The railing is slanted just the right angle for fishing poles. A fresh breeze from San Francisco Bay flows upriver. If it becomes a wind there are Plexiglas screens, and there’s a fish-cleaning sink on shore. For those who don’t want to fish, an expanse of lush green lawn is perfect for Frisbee or kids to run around, and shade trees surround the lawn, benches, tables, and barbecue stands. No alcohol or unleashed dogs are permitted. The restrooms are reasonably clean, and there’s plenty of free parking.
