Tuesday nights may be darts league night, but on Wednesday nights at the East Bay’s friendliest gay bar, everybody gets a shot at the bull’s-eye. At the low-low-low-key Rainbow Room, men and women share the same space with little rancor and you can belly up to the bar and talk to just about anybody. The easiest person to talk to, of course, is Paige, who has been the bartender since before the Rainbow Room was the Rainbow Room. She presides (yes, that is the right word) over a spacious but not cavernous bar that looks like a tricked-out rec room with a rainbow fringe and a dance floor. Added bonus: The jukebox kicks ass, especially if you like old-school hip-hop and R&B. Besides the darts, there are lesbian pool-league nights, dancing on Fridays and Saturdays, and the ever-popular Bloody Mary Sunday with Fawn.
