.4:30 p.m. Monday: Best Way to Act Like Ted Nugent Without Killing Anything

Briones Archers Monday Night 3-D League

Video games aren’t the only harmless way to act out your dark fantasies, but don’t tell that to 1970s rocker Ted Nugent, who has been extolling the glories of shooting unsuspecting forest critters with titanium-tipped arrows for years now. But his unrepentant loonyness has probably scared away as many potential converts as it’s won over. The Briones Archers, on the other hand, present a healthy and harmless alternative for wanna-be bow hunters. The club holds regular events in its own thirty-acre archery range in Briones Regional Park outside Orinda. April to August it runs Monday night “3-D” shoots where archers can let fly at life-sized deer and elk targets. Nothing dies, no one has to skin or gut anything, and no one (we hope) feels the need to belt out “Cat Scratch Fever.” Whether you’re looking to relive your summer camp archery days or you merely want to bag something bigger and faster than a hay bale, here’s the place to start.
