The Best of the East Bay Party is only a week away! This means we only have a few artists left to feature before the main event; lucky for us, they bring a punch worthy of the pre-party hustle currently infusing the East Bay Express office.

Today I bring you Bang Data, a real hybrid group that pulls together elements of traditional Latin pop, heavy metal and hip hop. It's an amazing concoction, and it is an excellent reflection of what the Best of the East Bay Party should be: a fusion of all things great about the East Bay. Below you find the official release, and you can also read Express staffer Rachel Swan's review of Bang Data here.

Bay Area artists Bang Data bring you a mix of slick and melodic guitar, gritty synth & bass, over banging electro-acoustic rhythms - the perfect canvas for the bilingual rhymes and melodies of frontman Deuce Eclipse. Bang Data's sound is a mash-up of styles combining hints of Latin, Reggae, Hip-Hop & Rock, which is nostalgic while offering a futuristic vision of Latin Alternative music.

The debut EP entitled Maldito Carnaval was released in 2009 and includes 7 songs that take you from a Samba-Ska-Cumbia and Electro-Bossanova to a Synth Bass Heavy Stooges infested beat.
Check them out and listen to songs at the Bang Data MySpace page.
