The Republican Wave clearly missed California. Democrats Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer won handily last night over their GOP rivals, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. Brown trounced Whitman 54 percent to 41 percent, and Boxer pounded Fiorina 52 to 42 percent.

Gavin Newsom also easily defeated Republican Abel Maldonado, 50 to 39 percent. But the race for attorney general appears to be too close to call. Kamala Harris has 46.2% to Steve Cooley's 45.5% with 94% of precincts reporting. And the East Bay Congressional race between Democratic incumbent Jerry McNerney and Republican David Harmer may be headed for a recount. Both have 47.5%, and they're only separated by 13 votes 121 votes with 99% 100% of precincts reporting.

But Californians are not ready to legalize marijuana. Proposition 19 lost 46% to 54%. Proposition 23, the anti-green measure funded by out-of-state oil companies, also lost 39% to 61%. For more statewide results, click here.
