.Meth Bust in Alameda

Alameda: home to old-fashion ice cream stores, barber shops, La PiƱata, and meth dealers. About $3,000 worth of methamphetamine was discovered by a police dog in the bucolic island ‘burb on Tuesday, according to the Alameda Journal. Police were carrying out a probation search of the apartment and property of 49-year-old Dennis Young, a suspected drug dealer, after he was arrested the night before on a bench warrant from an earlier narcotics case. The scent-sensitive pooch, Duke, led officers to about three ounces of meth in the trunk of Young’s girlfriend’s car. More was found under the windshield visor. The woman was arrested at the apartment, on the 2100 block of Alameda Avenue at Willow Street. The couple is suspected of dealing in Alameda and nearby cities. Earlier this month, around lunchtime on Tuesday, February 3, police made an arrest for possession of methamphetamine for sale about six blocks away, on the 2400 block of San Jose Avenue, according to the Alameda Sun‘s police blotter.
