Johannes Mehserle, the BART cop that killed Oscar Grant on New Year's Day, quit his job yesterday. He was supposed to show up and start answering questions for BART officials investigating the incident, but his lawyer showed up instead and said he's keeping silent and resigning his position. Now, no one can make him talk about what happened, since the threat of losing his job was the only thing BART officials had on him. According to the Oakland Tribune, Grant's sister attended a rally yesterday and begged Mehserle to explain what happened. "I want him to start. I want him to apologize for what he did," said Grant's sister Audrena Gilbert. "I want him to tell the truth, why he shot him, what he shot him for. That's all I want."
