Yeah, so it's Father's Day this weekend. But that's just, like, some corporate marketing-ploy holiday to get us to buy things. And we're not falling for it! No siree, we've got better things to do with our precious, hard-earned dollars. Like, buy Italian-made shoes, and stuff. Er, well, maybe we could buy a pair for dad, too.
Twenty-Two Sample Sale (!!!)
Okay, stop reading, now, seriously, and head to 5856 College Ave. in Oakland if you're any type of shoe person. Twenty-Two Shoes, the locally designed, Italian-made, fabulously stylish, and extremely comfortable shoe line, is having its sample sale this weekend only at its Oakland location. The gals of Buy Curious didn't even have time to blog because we had to rush there in time for opening this morning (11 a.m.), where hordes of women were already armed and ready - and for a good reason. Samples from last year's season are marked 75-90% off, ranging from $25-$100 (they're usually $300-$400). This season's shoes are also on sale, 22% off, but with such insane savings all around you, it's hard to buy anything more than $100. We scored 5, yes 5, pairs of shoes for $400, which sounds like a lot, but really isn't considering how awesome these shoes are. There are even some spring shoes among the pile, including flat leather thongs, flat peep-toes (in pastel pink!), brown ballet flats, their fabulous heeled sandals, and a lot more. There are also plenty of boots, pumps, mary janes, etc. for fall. And you men aren't left out either! The men's selection isn't huge, but the plus is you won't have much competition (we spotted just a few guys braving the crowd). Here's a few tips: wear shoes you can easily slip on and off, and just bring your credit card as there's no room for bulk!, and bring a friend since there's only one mirror and good luck fighting your way to get to it.

The Warehouse Sale
Need jeans? The Warehouse Sale arrives in San Francisco this weekend to unload discounted designer denim to the masses (men & women). Brands aren't advertised, but organizers say their 20,000-item samples supply comes from stores like Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue, and promise savings up to 80% off. The sale also features tops, dresses, pants, skirts, hoodies, sweaters, T-shirts, and more. RSVP early for free admission; otherwise pay $5. Note: It's a communal dressing room so wear a dress and slip-on shoes so you can try denim easily and discretely; leave the bulky purse at home.
When: June 14 & 15, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Hilton Hotel, Grand Ballroom A, 333 O'Farrell St. (at Mason St.), San Francisco Got a tip for Buy Curious? Store opening? Sale? Send it to buycurious [at] eastbayexpress [dot] com
