South Berkeley Shooters Caught on Tape

Wed, May 7, 2008 at 5:35 PM

The suspects in a Saturday-night South Berkeley shooting were caught on surveillance tape and are being sought by the BPD's homicide squad ... because although the sixteen-year-old whom they shot three times survived, he clearly wasn't meant to.

Hoping that members of the public can help identify the suspects in the shooting, which occurred at Bob's Liquors, the police are distributing photos of the pair along with this bulletin:

"At approximately 9:39 pm, an armed suspect confronted a man outside a liquor store at Sacramento and Oregon streets in South Berkeley. The victim was able to flee into the shop where these suspects were caught on surveillance tape. The victim's younger brother dashed into the business and during a struggle ... one or both of the suspects shot the 16 year old several times. The 16 year old suffered very serious injuries. ...

"Detectives are asking for the community's help with this investigation. Anyone who may know the identity of either or both suspects is urged to call the BPD Homicide Detail at (510) 981-5741 (office) or (510) 981-5900." —Anneli Rufus
