Hey, remember the '80s? The hair, the shoulder pads, the bizarre English androgyny, the food stamps? Well, they're back! The food stamps, that is. The Hayward Daily Review reports that both Alameda and Contra Costa Counties have issued food stamps to a steadily increasing number of people in the last two years. The numbers are particularly striking in Contra Costa, where county social workers gave food stamps to 18 percent more poor folks in 2007 than in 2006, and the numbers are still rising. If this keeps up, expect to see Kajagoogoo workin' the crowd at this summer's county fair.
