According to the Oakland Tribune, the Richmond City Council has joined Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland to oppose the state's plan to spray pheromones everywhere in hopes of killing the light brown apple moth. Richmond officials claim to be worried after the spray, which causes male moths to chase and try to mate with the pheromone instead of female moths, sickened more than 600 people in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties last year. But we think they're really upset over the prospect of moths dry-humping branches or utility poles or whatever the pheromone settles on. Honestly, that's just unnatural.
