Buy Curious: Does Your Butt Need a Facial?

Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 4:56 PM

Paris is free, Tahoe's scorched, hordes of people line up to drop $600 on the iPhone, but really, what could be more important than bargain shopping in the East Bay? This week, Buy Curious rounds up more fashion events, sample sales, and online discounts you won't want to pass up. Plus, we explore the joys of the crafters Amazon.com, Etsy, and the best local shopping sites have to offer (can you say "butt facial"?).

SHOP TALK

We're in Love with Etsy! This Brooklyn-based e-commerce site has been hailed by the LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Wired, and countless other national publications as the crafters Amazon.com. Combining flawless design and easy-to-use features, Etsy, started in 2005, enables users to easily buy (by category, location, sellers, color, etc.), sell (clothes, art, houseware, jewelry, and much more), and even request/bid-to-make custom items (though it's currently under construction). Take a look at some of these fabulous goods currently featured on their homepage: lunghood.jpg Lungs Hoodie $80 scand.jpg Scandanavian folk art- zippered change purse $6.75 scifi.jpg Fantasy - Sci-Fi Art Print - Pseudospring $12 If you're equally in love with this concept of the DIY marketplace, check out Elsewares & BuyOlympia drift1.jpg Fashion Show at Drift Denim Love (raw, tailored, high-qual) denim?
