Grease Trap: At the Beard Awards, a Tiny Showing for the 510

Chron Food — itself a winner at the 2006 James Beard Foundation awards — reports on Bay Area winners of the annual, Oscars-of-the-food-world awards, doled out earlier this week in Manhattan. Only two are from the East Bay — two and a half if you count Marion Nestle. “UC Berkeley journalism professor Michael Pollan won the Writing on Food category for his book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and occasional UC Berkeley visiting professor Marion Nestle of NYU won for her reference book, What to Eat.”
The Chron goes on to say that Pollan was inducted into the Who’s Who of Food and Beverage, “while Moosewood Cookbook, written by Kensington resident Mollie Katzen, and published by Berkeley’s Ten Speed Press, made the Cookbook Hall of Fame.” Who even knew there was such a thing?
