A proposed ballot measure to legalize pot in California in 2014 underwent some changes this week, increasing personal cultivation limits to six plants, among other minor alterations.

The Control, Regulate and Tax Marijuana Act” from Drug Policy Alliance and a group representing the late Peter Lewis offers a modest form of legalization.

It legalizes one ounce for adults over 21, and the growth of six plants, and regulates those who would commercially grow and sell marijuana. It also includes a 25 percent sales tax.

DPA says they are undecided on whether or not they will spend the $1 million needed to gather enough signatures to put the initiative on the ballot, let alone spend the $10 million needed to run a campaign. Polls show about 65 percent of Californians support well-regulated cannabis sales to adults over 21 — if it generates billions of dollars in taxes for the state.

Have at it, commenters.
