Come on, son. Just check it in your luggage like a grown-ass man. Links: "Pot in the peanut butter jar doesn’t fool TSA"; "Authorities find pot in peanut butter at Oakland airport"; "TSA finds pot hidden in peanut butter".

Dale Gieringer, director of California NORML, wrote in response to this story:

"This story illustrates the perils of trying to be too clever in smuggling drugs. This person would probably have had no problems if he'd stashed the pot in his carry-on clothing (or brought aboard cannabis-suffused peanut butter stashed in a 3-oz container and carried in a separate plastic bag according to TSA regs for liquid carry-ons).

Note the following statement of TSA policy: "Drugs aren't something we're looking for," said TSA spokesman Nico Melendez. "The concern here is that peanut butter is prohibited anyway because of the liquid ban. And when we see something in the Xray hidden in a jar, we need to find out what it is."

It used to be that airport security spared no efforts to root out contraband drugs in pill boxes, film canisters, and other personal carry-on items. Now they rightly concentrate on things that actually pose a public safety threat, such as explosives and weapons. Drug users owe thanks to 9/11 for this significant improvement in airport security."
