A famous Oakland R&B dynasty just reestablished itself. The band PopLyfe, which includes two children of Toni Tony Toné frontman D'Wayne Wiggins, two children of local jazz drummer Ranzel Merritt, and 14-year-old singer Kehlani Parrish, announced that it just made the finals on NBC's America's Got Talent. And, according to a flyer posted on an East Bay Express news rack, the band needs some help from its hometown. Watch the show tonight at 9 p.m. and, if you think PopLyfe is a worthy contender for the $1 million grand prize, text your vote in to the 800 number provided during their performance. In the meantime, check out YouTube videos of PopLyfe's four previous appearances on national TV.

More reason to send your kids to a quality performing arts school! The acrobats, the gymnasts, the dancers, etc all have rigorous training too. Amateur means not getting paid as a professional. The more training, the better, however you get it. Go Oakland!
I do not care if they do go to a performing arts high school they are really good I hope they win they have my vote!
Awesome! Congratulations from the Oakland Public Conservatory of Music. I know that little drummer!
